Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
Unseasonably warm weather today and tomorrow has me outside as much as possible, trying to tackle a few things, including a re-sand and re-paint of that damned Fender bass guitar project. Carolan's Irish Cream would help, but maybe too much.

so glad to hear that two dear are well .
And when I was in Montana I was crazy about a little black angus bull who ate out of my hand
only a new yorker would be so stupid I think now
recovery from over familyizing is coming along well

I changed the oil in my truck the other day so now, kind of a late start but I'm gonna brave the wind and rotate my tires. I do a cross rotation.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
We've got Brahmin-Angus crossed cattle to the north of me, they call them 'Brangus'. Good beef cattle. Go a little further west to Salisbury, MO, they're doing a really cool thing called 'agroforestry' They have pecan trees growing in between rows of corn, and when the corn is harvested, they let the buffalo loose on the ground. Buffalo in Missouri! Further west, there's apples and peaches...Missouri is a literal cornucopia when it comes to harvest season.Thecatman wrote:In the south end of the Washoe Valley between Carson City and Reno there's a ranch that has Oreo cowsaserendipity wrote: I was crazy about a little black angus bull
Pumpkin festivals go on now, too. In the spring, there are sugar baby watermelons that are as big as basketballs that grow in SE Missouri, cantaloupes (Muskmelons for those who know them by that name), honeydew, and hundreds of thousands of acres of rice.
The only major farm crop not grown in Missouri has to be potatoes. We trust Idaho to come through for us, and Colorado.

I don't know if they're called Oreo cows as much as it's a local thing. I could be wrong.
This is kinda what they look like.
There's a cantaloupe festival in Fallon around Labor Day. Been to it couple times.

The USDA still classifies it as a "noxious weed' putting it in the same category as Johnson Grass. There's a bounty out on it, even though it is the state's #1 CASH crop.Tin Halo wrote:Weed. I love it in here. The faint smell of chewing tobacco and spilled merlot reminds me of home. It's safe from comrades and wild-eyed martyrs. I just saw a couple of people out in the street rending their garments, (and tents), while yelling about popsicles. A bailey's and coffee will fix me right up.

Re: The Bar 2014 Edition
This has been one of those days where the word "overcast" is totally insufficient. The sky has been exactly one hue of grey all day, varying only in brightness as the sun (presumably, can't see it) passed overhead. Like someone frosted the sky. It's felt like 5:00 in the evening, all day. Started off the day sore, having done a lot of moving of large objects yesterday. Carolan's and coffee helped.
I don't generally like to feel like this or have days like this, but I've gotten exactly squat done. I guess they're necessary to maintain balance in the universe. Somewhere.
