weight gain disaster

Post by tatonka » Tue Dec 02, 2014 3:16 pm

was 139lb , so I started drinking this 900 calorie shake to put on weight . It then makes me very sleepy ,so I boost up with a coke cola ,the kind from mexico with real sugar. So that wakes me up, and I work out with lots of energy. But then I notice the only thing getting bigger is my poo piles :(
Then I notice Im loosing weight  I snack all the time and eat all the fatty foods and I lost 10lbs :( the small love handles on my sides were gone.
WTF. So I stopped working out ,and kept eating ,except for the coke's , so now Im tired after i eat but back up 7 lbs :)

You realize that half of the dieting board wants to kill you now, right?

Was the 139 a sudden drop?
Inability to maintain weight should be checked out by a doctor.

You need to do the same thing people that are trying to loose weight do, only in reverse. Get yourself an app like My Fitness Pal (you can use it directly on the Internet if you don't use a smart phone).

Enter all your basic info, primarily height and weight age and sex. Select active lifestyle because of your high metabolism. Then tell the app how many pounds you want to gain per week. (I'd say no more than a pound a week, it's just easier that way)

It will then tell you how many calories you need to eat per day to attain your goal. You have to keep good track of what you eat and hit at least the suggested amount of calories each day. Nothing is really off limits when it comes to food choices. Calories are calories. Though it's probably a good idea to watch your sugar intake and try eating healthier fats, but that's not required.

You also record all of your activities, like if you have a workout, go for a walk, play tennis, or whatever. Then it adds those calories to your daily goal.

I ain't no doctor or fitness guru, but following that plan worked wonders for me.

Yikes, really? I knew they happen, but never realized the death toll was so high.

had cancer 9 years or so ago , went from 175 to 125 :( after defeating it , I got back up to 139 on avg . Which was my Boxing weight class
light welter weight . Started at 147 ( welter weight ) and went down after 2 fights in the heavyer class. After boxing , around 32 or so I started lifting weights and got to 175.

Lots of muscle gone :( and I used to be able to eat twice the amount I do now.

When I gained weight in my 30's I drank a gland balancer shake , which allowed the pounds to pack on. Before I lifted for 6 mths with no results , got stronger but gained maybe 6 lbs.

A nutritionist might work wonders, if you (or your insurance) can swing it. Ratios of fat/protein/carbs and portions could be tweaked and refined for what you want. Take care of yourself, Tatonka!

MyLarry does not gain weight either. He was down to 139 when he was at sea in the Persian Gulf. I think he tops 165 now. He used to be a bottomless pit, and could eat like mad. A nutritionist had him on 9,000 calories a day when he was in an isolation ward (post surgical infection), and after 38 days, he had not gained any weight. He did stop sleeping though.

At one Navy base, the gal at the chow hall wanted to fatten him up, and put sweet and sour sauce on everything for him. Or gravy. Oh my. Didn't work.

Now he's up around 165. Has stopped eating a lot of fried foods, and only eats minimal sugar, but that is not an eating plan, that's just him. He is more inactive, just because his job is driving. He used to lift weights before I knew him, and he always biked or swam a lot when we were in Japan. He gets tired if he doesn't get enough protein.

it really is fascinating, how people can be so different.
Tatonka, and MyLarry, are healthy and happy. I am 6'3, 270 (but back on my diet). Most say I don't look like I weigh that much, and feel pretty healthy at that. But yeah, I could and will, lose 30 or more pounds. That said, If I ever got under 200, it's probably because I am sick! I just don't think my "frame" could be that light.
Growing, at one point, I was 6'4", and 180........but that was on the way "up". Don't think it's possiblen, now.

tatonka, I've lost 10 lbs. since leaving the playa. I don't eat much bread, except for gluten free, I gave up soda to once a month, and my sugar intake is every low. I don't eat a lot these days because I'm just not hungry. I eat red meat maybe twice a month. I'm still losing but I want to maintain my current weight which is 177.

I remember when I was in my late teens I used this product called Wate-On! I was always so skinny growing up! LOL
btw, it had a disgusting taste and it didn't work.! *HA*
