one could argue that because we burn the man every year that "sustainability" would not be applied to what we do

yet this is kind of what we practice while on playa, and hopefully, off, in order to keep burning the man...

excess and sustainability seem at opposite ends of the spectrum...

how about "appropriate"

gift what you can afford....i know...it's the corny old PBS model of giving, but you know what...

i like mr. rodgers.

there, i said it.

Bring what you can Bring...Gift it individually or to the whole playa, but to create enclaves of Pretentia™ in Black Rock City, expect the other citizens to get upset at the MegaTech Art Cars taking up all the good spots with their land yachts.

fuck that noise.

seriously.

participate in the Community...

not a gated "community".

pretty simple, actually...

I was just wondering if that shower-thingie came with a douche nozzle... And do you recommend it?

No, but this guy makes fantastic products! He will even work with titanium if you request it!

Ok. Honest question: WTF would you need **titanium** for in a dildo/buttplug/enema nozzle?

And please dont tell me "Because todays high performance assholes rev higher and run hotter"...

The extra weight of stainless steal was too much for my hole.
Even had my initials engraved so there would be no confusion when I loose my mind.

Oh wait, maybe it's too late for that

Ya know you can use a straight off the shelf Hudson sprayer from the local hardware store to do the exact same thing, though due to the intake schematics of the potential applicants, stepping up the nozzle diameter considerably to accommodate larger orifice dimensions may be necessary, though what do I know, I'm no scientist.

Yep, and apologies to Noel Coward.......

In desert time climes there are certain times of day
When all the citizens retire to tear their clothes off and perspire.
It's one of the rules that the greatest fools obey,
Because the playa sun is much too sultry
And one must avoid its ultry-violet ray.
The med tent techs grieve when the citizens leave their huts,
Because they're obviously, definitely nuts!
Mad dogs and Plug and play campers go out in the midday sun,
The Rangers don´t care to, the DPW wouldn´t dare to,
And the ravers sleep firmly from twelve to one
But the Entitled detest-a siesta.
In the bar camps they have lovely screens to protect you from the glare.
In Snowflake Village, there are hats like plates which the Orientals won't wear.
At twelve noon the natives swoon and no further work is done,
But mad dogs and Entitled nuts go out in the midday sun.
It's such a surprise for the citizens eyes to see,
that though the Entitled are effete, they're quite impervious to heat,
When the entitled fools ride every native hides in glee,
Because the simple creatures hope he will impale his solar toupee on a tree.
It seems such a shame when the Entitled claim the playa Earth,
They give rise to such hilarity and mirth.
Ha ha ha ha hoo hoo hoo hoo hee hee hee hee ......
Mad dogs and Plug and Play Campers go out in the midday sun.
The toughest Deathguild bandit can never understand it.
In Tokyo the heat of noon is just what the natives shun,
They put their Scotch or Rye down, and lie down.
In Hushville town where the sun beats down to the rage of man and beast
The Entiled garb of these fashion plates merely gets a bit more creased.
In Berlin at the time of twelve o'clock they foam at the mouth and run,
But mad dogs and Entitled fools go out in the midday sun.
Mad dogs and Plug and play campers go out in the midday sun.
The smallest bunny-eared rabbit deplores this foolish habit.
At lamplighters they strike a gong and fire off a noonday gun,
To reprimand each inmate who's in late.
In the mangrove swamps where the python romps
there is peace from twelve till two.
Even caribous lie around and snooze, for there's nothing else to do.
In Center Camp to move at all is seldom ever done,
But mad dogs and Entitled nuts go out in the midday sun.

I'm not going to acknowledge you fucking exist for making such a comment. It's not fucking ok to ever say such things out loud even in jest. Here's why: my job requires that I get into the minds of people who may be altered, tired, distracted, crazed from drama or otherwise not thinking straight. And because the johns are a public yet very personal space, people do really awful things in there already. Do NOT give anyone any bullshit ideas, because then it WILL get lodged in their subconscious, and lo and behold, someone does that horrible act. I have enough problems. How brains work is if a "no" is inserted, a "yes" can very easily be remembered. That's why I don't say "no, stop and don't". Instead I couch my advertising in positive terms. I'm so fucking angry right now I'm not safe to be around.

The way I read her is that it's best to be positive when being negative, I think.

How do you find out what's right with the world? Ask my drillers first thing in the morning, before coffee:

My question: Isn't it GREAT to be here?"
Answer (shouted as a group): "We hate this place!"
My reply: "Let's be positive about this place, come on....."
Their reply: " We POSITIVELY hate this place!"
My reply: "OK, then let's have short attitude check..."
Their reply: " FUCK this place!"

Many laughs, and we head for the field. I enjoy being with these men, and feel privleged to lead them into the unknown as we investigate the geology. My job is like that....short periods of absolute bliss followed by long periods of absolute boredom.

What, it's suddenly not okay for 70,000+ people to use the jots for grey water disposal? What else should I do with it? Take it home?! EW!

The only way to fight disinformation is with information. Better to talk about it than sweep it under the rug.
