Q: Medical Marijuana on the playa? A: No

Post by aaronsewell » Wed Dec 24, 2014 3:27 pm

With Nevada legalizing medical marijuana and the federal government announcing they won't be prosecuting any participants, will BRC follow these new regulations or will they still be following up out dated laws on the subject? I find it kind of ironic that they still have regulation against it being such a proactive open-minded community.

I know this is a taboo subject because the event wants to stay legitimate and not a "drug fest" but brushing the issue under a rug because you don't want to talk about it isn't solving nor stopping anything from happening. Just was wondering if things would be changing as the rest of society is too.

BRC is on BLM land. Federal land. That is, Nevada law has nothing to do with BM.

Federally, MJ is a Schedule I drug. Therefore, use it at your own risk knowing it is illegal to do so and you may be ticketed and/or arrested. No state script is recognized and getting arrested will be a real bad time.

(PS - There are countless threads on the subject already on ePlaya. You might try searching before posting.)

[MOD EDIT: the very first reply in this thread answered the question. Burning Man is held on Federal Land, and the BLM does not recognize medical marijuana cards from NV or any other state. Since it's still considered illegal activity at Burning Man, it's a taboo topic for this message board and I'm closing this thread up.]
