I never had much interest in the NFL, but when they let that piece of shit Michael Vick back in, I now boycott it completely.

Fuck professional sports.
Talk about a waste of time, money and resources.
Bread and circuses will keep the masses distracted while Rome burns to the ground. With corporate sponsorship no less...
With my unpopular views vs. the sports fans on here, I'd say that Eplaya represents a section of cross views for sure...

Eplaya, a cross section of views on a single topic?? - possibly but
There is never a single topic that stays as a single topic - EVER
Eplaya, a cross section of views on everything?? - Not possible (I have in mind a Venn diagram illustrating this)

The next morning you will wake up pretty much your old self except that a very unusual 16 hours will have been added to your store of life experience.

Re: Eplaya, a cross section of views?
All this stuff about Reddit made me curious. I've never heard of it, so I took a look, read some Burning Man threads. and decided it's not for me.I wasn't impressed. I looked at other threads too. I'm sure it has some here other threads that may be interesting.
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Who is this Miss Conda that's being outed, like its something important? I'd be pissed if I was trying to keep upright and there was a damn camera in my face.

Re: Eplaya, a cross section of views?
One reason I really love this forum more than many online political forums is the cross section of views. In many other places, the standard is kinda set; a liberal website has liberal comments with dissenters from the right. Or the other way around. Seldom is there a feeling that basic humanity is shared, many things held in common, but here's where we disagree. In most on-line political comments it's either "yeah, absolutely right", or "get out of here". Mostly just alot of confirmation of already held opinions swapped around. On social/hobby on-line forums it's just agreeing about something or refining it, but not a lot of mental challengers to one's own personal views. I never come here to see my outlook confirmed. What I see is a bunch of freaking weirdo geniuses who blow me away, then I discover we disagree on whatever, and they still blow me away, and maybe I learn something. Eplaya, like the Burn is so big and diverse, there is no unifying view. Whenever everyone agrees, that's the time to worry ('cause everyone never agrees, somebody is getting shafted when they do). Oh well, thanks to the internet and eplaya I get to hang out with a bunch of incredible, talented, smart, engaging people who I don't agree with. I love the cross section of views that is found here.

Re: Eplaya, a cross section of views?
Yep. The only thing we all have in common is, we love the Burn. That's about it, but it's enough to foster a sense of a common purpose, so that when we do disagree, we're able to compartmentalize that disagreement to the subject at hand, while still respecting each others' humanity (for the most part). That's a freeing feeling.Lonesomebri wrote:One reason I really love this forum more than many online political forums is the cross section of views. Re: Eplaya, a cross section of views?
I just read this whole thread, including my last post. I must say 99% of the time I was totally confused, but suddenly like a lightning bolt there it was.
Now I Totally GET it.
Do you think I'm going to let you in on my secret and enlighten everyone?
No Way.
At least if I don't explain myself people can't tell me I'm wrong,
but if they do tell me I'm wrong I know it will only be because they misunderstood what I would have said.
