How does Burner Express work? Being a weekender......

Post by FireflyTX » Fri Jan 09, 2015 5:52 am

I have a little one that is starting kindergarden this year so I am going to go to BM for the weekend. I plan on flying in Thursday late evening into Reno. And hoping to catch the Burner Express in the AM. Is this the best way to do this? How does it all work? (No issues leaving as I will go with a friend)

I've never used the service, but here is their website: http://burnerexpress.com/

At this point, the schedule for arrivals/departures hasn't been posted. And my guess is, that as the service becomes more popular, the schedule will be revised. Consequently the schedule used last year might not be the same as this year. Though I would expect to see more times than less.

Last year, it was two-way service only.

One way tickets were available and were half the price of a round trip.
LAST YEAR the buses ran Sat-Fri from Reno.

If you can get your gear transported in by land, you would be a good candidate to travel inbound by air. Check your camp contacts, there is usually a Port of Entry message board for this, and there are commercial services. There are also BM official site ride boards for land travel between Reno and the burn.

There's always RideShare from the Air Playa Info booth at the Reno airport...
I believe that Thursday is usually their last day staffing it (?), so depending on when you got in, you'd have someone there to advise you too.
Or cab to Keystone Savemart for last minute supplies and RideShare from there.

Sounds like my plan is doable. I am glad there is hope. I would love to fly in to BRC from Reno but I can't see spending $$$$ to fly from Reno (I looked into it). Trying to keep this trip as low cost as possible. I got points to fly to Reno so what I am going to end up spending with ticket, bus and food I can justify going for only a few days.
