My dear foster dog Teddy has been adopted. Teddy, the rambunctious teenager, has been adopted by the highly capable and loving Kandice, and is now known as Dedgi. Though still a rambunctious teenager, Dedgi will now have the structure, discipline and love needed to reach his potential and live a fulfilling wonderful life up under the redwoods with his new family. Teddy was a fantastic, though at times misunderstood, foster dog, and his friends here, Willie, Peaches and me, will miss him dearly. Thank you Rocket Dog Rescue for making happiness happen.

I got a raise and
supposedly we don't have to take furloughs any more, effective this fiscal year,
plus lower gas prices is almost like another raise:D

Congratulations on the raise and hopefully no more furloughs catman! Yep, furloughs hurt, even once you make your way past the immediate effects, they can have long range negative financial impact as well. Glad to hear things are shaping up!

:D
This thread needs bumping.

Background:
We know about my near-miraculous medical turn-around at the hospital over in Santa Rosa last year. There has been a setback since then -- my local quack insisted I get off the most important medication that the hospital's specialist prescribed.

Now:
I "fired" my local quack. As of yesterday, I am again with my former doctor in Sacramento. She even welcomed me back with a hug! How many physicians would hug a patient? She is absolutely amazing. A true Healer. She understands my priorities -- as opposed to the local quack who was only interested in grinding out as many Medicare billings per hour as possible.

So I am back on the correct meds, and back with the most wondermuss doctor on the planet.
Sooooo much worth the drive! And I can always combine the trip with other errands.

Woot, woot, woot, and so on and so forth!

Everything is a compromise, and moving to this cultural backwater 12 years ago was such, with the advantage being cheap real estate. I merely need to come up with the occasional work-around. The primary work-around by far is the Interweb. And the extra trip to Sacramento now and then is another. All entirely agreeable.
So... on with the happy show!

Heading off to Midwest Burners' regional 'Interfuse' tomorrow. Rangering most of the event. I'm looking forward to the hubcap-sized, loaded with bacon and M&Ms inch-thick pancake known as "heart attack on a plate". Many friends to see and relax with.

Now if I can get a hold of a pint of that new made-in-Missouri cognac from Montgomery County.

And I'm bringing a package of the double-stuff Chocolate Oreos.

BBQ and Bacon by the TON!

They'll find me at Ranger Central, junk-food junkie that I am, spreading bacon-bourbon jam on crackers with black olive slices on top.

And right before I get there, I'll stop in Buckhorn for a few more steaks. Fresh off the farm.

I'll see Kaalin, Thoron, Lady Cyn, Sheridan, MoJo, Sox, Stake, Chase, Zay, Iowa Sock Monkey, Candyman and Mrs. Candyman, Weldboy, Comrade Heathen Stumble Biscuits, Nova, TAFL (The Amazing Ferocious Larry, but pronounced 'taffle"), Mad Hatter, Bittersweet, Quack Quack......such a huge list..........

It's gonna be EPIC. Report forthcoming. The theme?

"Forces of Nature"

Right up my geohazards alley. We need an earthquake, a volcano, a landslide, and a meteorite impact to make my weekend complete. A pyroclastic flow and a tornado would be a bonus.

Sounds like a really fun time you're in for, ^Rhino!... in one way I hope it's all you're wishing for, and not. As long as nobody gets hurt, it's all good.

Right now, Saguaro Man is probably in full force. (AZ regional) I'm sad to be missing it- the theme is fractals!! (today through Sunday) However, I'm having a precious time with family, and tomorrow, our sweet Mom turns 90! We'll be making a big cake tonight... YUM!

I'll just have to wait until the Hof and TTITD to see all the gang. Well worth the wait, I must say!

I had an unexpected evening last night, out of the clear blue.

I went into a new barbecue place last night to check it out, and sat down at the bar (I always do when eating alone) and I ended up having a pleasant conversation with the gentleman next to me. We shook hands and introduced ourselves. Turns out I had dinner last night with the Lieutenant Governor of Missouri. Nice man, even though I disagree with his politics. He DID end up asking me to vote for him next fall.

I told him to simply do one thing: earn the public trust. And then, I told my fellow Missourian, 'and you're going to have to show me.' (For those who don't know, Missouri is the 'Show-Me State") He chuckled, and said, 'will do!"

Who knows? I'll be watching closely.
