Got the email from placement the other day to prepare SIDESHOW for the Directed Group ticket sale- to be sure we could get our key people tickets so that we can make our camp happen. We were told to wait for more instructions.

But they did not arrive.

Well, wudda ya know. Turns out, SIDESHOW was not considered a successful theme camp in good standing and was not included in the directed group sales for key members. I wonder why we were not qualified? Registered individually as a camp last two years, very popular and interactive, on the esplanade with big crowds every night. A THEME camp and not a theme camp in name only. And with the 2015 Carnival of Mirrors BM theme, we have lots of new members and performers joining who, now, will have to rely as the rest of us, in getting enough tickets in the general sale to make it a go. It's a lot of expense, and time, and effort and building.... on a chance.... so we as a crew will have to see if the general sale will make it possible. If not, and we can only get handful of tickets, we will have to make a decision- put up a facade with little to no activity or interactivity, or hit the abort button and scuttle the camp for 2015.

I did send in a request to placement to see what happened. but no reply yet- I am sure they are hammered. So we wait and hope that our theme camp finale year WILL indeed be 2015, instead of it being last year.

Did somebody actually write and tell you that you are not a camp in good standing, or are you jumping to that conclusion because you haven't gotten the email?

Seems like it could be any number of miscommunications and crossed wires relating to being a registered camp within a village (and/or splitting from the village). I know you've written to try and get it sorted... all I can say is have a little patience for them to get back to you.

Well, I can't tell. Until we hear back it is a mystery. Anyway, as you well know jumping to conclusions is what eplaya is for! haha.

With ill vill scaling down and our camp now faced with growing, we know ill vill would not be able to accommodate our growth for 2015. Just recently, the camp members concluded that we needed to go on our own. Something I anticipated may come someday and therefore was sure to register our camp the last two years so we'd be on the books so to speak.

As for our assessment- we certainly were in good standing with everyone who visited us in 2013 and 2014.... so perhaps it's a clerical issue, some small but nonetheless significant i dotting or t crossing we or placement neglected. But it does depress the members and our new members who now must wait and wonder. So I wait and wonder as well.

That happened to us last year. Consequently, we started planning late to at least see if we even got placed. Consequently, our camp was somewhat smaller last year. But at least we were placed.

I was surprised to read that invitation to the directed group sales does not guarantee placement. Doesn't make much sense to me. I always thought if you got prediredted tickets you were more or less guaranteed placement.

No, directed group sales is just an opportunity to participate in a sale of a specific number of available tickets in a first come first served sale like the general sale, and is not any guarantee that people participating will obtain tickets, nor is it connected with any specific placement.

Our issue was this- just recently, we determined that the best course for us would be to be a stand alone camp and team up with another thematic camp, and that Illumination Village, as awesome as it has been the past two years, would likely not be able to accommodate a suddenly much larger SIDESHOW (the theme this year has generated excitement and new camp members). I had intended to contact placement about our plans when the email came to me telling us how to prepare for the directed group sale, and what info we'd need to have, and wait for further instructions. So at that point I said- oh, ok, we have registered as a theme camp the past two years, we were very successful, moop green etc., and YEAH! We qualified for the DGS. I felt contacting placement was now moot and I'll await instructions. But the invite email was apparently sent to me by mistake, along with many others apparently.

we will be sticking with our plan to be a stand alone theme camp. We hope to be placed, along with the legendary Midnight Popcorn Palace in the 3:00 plaza, where the Palace has a long and venerated history in years past.

Ok, so we can't get DGS ticket opportunity- so we have come up with another strategy, although it'll be very time consuming with a lot of coordination. But we may be able to eventually have a small ticket holding core group, enough to at least get the camp infrastructure there and get it set up, then see how the general sale works out. Yeah it's iffy- but it's what we got.

We proceed!!!!
