Buying tix with mobile device

Post by lucky420 » Mon Jan 26, 2015 6:40 am

Soooooo ticket day is fast approaching and I haz question.

I know this stuff is ever evolving and changing but my question is, will I be able to buy my ticket with a mobile device? Specifically either an iPad or I phone?

I accidentally signed up for presale on the iPad (sparkly things button showed up on iPad) I didn't buy anything off of it. It all seemed alright though.

did anybody have a problem with an iPad or I phone either in presale or the sales last year?

Thank you

It's possible that it may work, however both Burning Man and Ticketfly recommend not using a mobile device. My understanding is you're safer if that device is connected online via wi-fi, since the nature of cellular networks (with radio signal dropouts and whatnot) would make for dropouts and connection issues that would cause you to lose your place in the queue.

Thanks trilo. Yes it would be my ipad/phone from home so yes to wifi connect. I'll probably borrow sons laptop though.

One more question and sorry to nitpick or worry wart this but im about as techy as 2 cans and a string.

If there are 3 people all using different computers from same address (my house) is this going to ping anything that says "uh oh scalpers" and not let us buy? it will be 3 different orders with different credit cards. We should all have our different codes of course.

I have an I phone 4s and with 3 bars of 4g service I had no problem , took about 3min. Make sure to pre-set up ur ticketfly acc. The question is weather the lack of demand made easy access for my phone or not.. I guess it's a gamble ? Good luck !

Hello Lucky, There is no way to know in advance or even know after what anti-fraud or anti-scalper measures will be taken by BMORG or Ticketfly. (Or whatever flakiness will occur as did on the presale) Therefore suggest more than one physical location, with separate IP's, like friends, not a cafe or library where contestants could congregate. The Internet in itself is somewhat a lottery with no guarantee of packet delivery. Good luck!

Flash, success in the presale is absolutely no indication that it would be successful in the other sales. Since there's little to no time spent in a holding queue during the pre-sale, the risk of 'losing your place' is zero. In the other sales demand is quite high, and participants can be holding in a virtual waiting room for quite some time. A single dropout is all it would take to lose your place.

Lucky, you should probably contact the folks at [email protected] to make sure. At the very least, they'll be able to make notes in the system on their end so that if the purchase gets flagged during one of the reviews, the human that reviews it will know what's up.

Let us know what you find out.

I really hope it's fine because the idea of limiting purchases to two tickets per household is super problematic.

Suggestion should you have any problems:

The default browser in iOS requests a mobile version of webpages. This can cause problems. There is a fantastic browser available in the app store called Mercury Browser. Mercury allows you to change the "user agent" on demand. Therefore, you can fool the website into thinking you are on a desktop browser like Firefox or Chrome. There are other features in Mercury you might love. Check it out.

I purchased my ticket to my first burn (2013) on my phone, after having been stuck at work late and signed on at 3:00EST on the ride home. Kept hitting refresh in the waiting room and lucked out that I never lost signal. Continued to wait 2.5hr at home and finally purchased my ticket around 7pm.

Probably unnecessary, but a good backup.

Good luck with tickets!

Heard back from ticket support. No problemo for different people purchasing tix from same IP address. They go off of credit card. I was impressed with the fast turn around reply to my query. Thank you Kayla!

Different credit cards checked by name as opposed to numbers I'd assume?

Lucky, I was over zealous and signed up for the presale

I cannot afford that, and when I woke up to it I asked if I could use that access number for the individual sale.

I was told NO !
I have to restart.
