I wouldn't apologize, I'd just put out the rat poison. Mix it in tuna fish. Hey, if she can't keep her cats in her yard, too bad. They shouldn't be your problem. Or, if you don't have the constitution to do it yourself, get a cage trap or two. Every time you get one, take it to the ASPCA. They'll take care of it for you.
Or maybe just take your neighbor to the ASPCA.

Hey, I did suggest the humane society. And just for the record, I have never poisoned any animals.lucky420 wrote:FUCK? What a horrible fucking death! Call the aspca or humane society. If they have to be put down there are better ways than rat poison. FUCK dude!

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
No poisons, although I have felt like taking them myself when I step in something. The neighbor on the other side of the colony got a trap. She trapped 3 of them and I delivered them to the animal shelter. This had to be done secretly or no telling what the nutty woman would do. They were clearly feral. The next day or two they were back. Catwoman had convinced them that they were her pets and paid $100 each. No spay or neuter either. If I ever go trapping again I won't deliver them to the local shelter. The local shelter people wouldn't even talk to me. Cat lovers are great but they do have a responsibility to do their job. Instead they would turn their back and ignore me.
I've had the uniformed officers out here to try and stop the illegal feeding. 24/7 food under her car in the street. Now we have a raccoon, skunk, possum and rat problem. Cats don't kill rats unless they are starving. It's too fairly matched. We all own our homes so I'm slow to start a war. Maybe this summer I'll take all the darlings on a road trip.

This is awful! WTF. I don't care that you "also" mentioned the ASPCA. Anyone who thinks this way is disgusting! Why would you even offer it as a solution?!
Horrible.

City of Salem has a Rat Control officer.. You can not leave food out that attracts..
Our Kitty Cafe is for the local guys.. The all have a home and name.. The Cafe is only open in the day time.. Dog will pick off anything else that comes around.. Right now we have about ten cats that come around.. Mostly at different times of the day.. There is no mess.. They come eat, maybe a pet and go on..

Depending on where you are, as this goes up the food chain, predators may move in to take care of them. Just watch out for them going after kids...Ratty wrote:... ... that might get the authorities attention.

OK then how about trap 'em, kill 'em, skin 'em, and eat 'em? And you could use the pelts to make a cool playa hat. Or maybe a jacket if you catch enough cats. (probably just like China Burn regional)danibel wrote:Elderberry wrote:I wouldn't apologize, I'd just put out the rat poison. Mix it in tuna fish. I filled out a volunteer questionnaire today. (Eep!) I found myself feeling really shy last year, which is NOT me at all, so I'm hoping having something to do/a reason to interact with other people will help break that shell a bit this year. Also got my relevant info to our camp contact person as we start finalizing plans for the year.
And I just got more lovely, lovely silk and cotton to dye and sew into clothes-I've already got a couple of pieces in progress.

Good for you, bedlamdoll! The volunteering and interactions should definitely help with that, and be a fun experience on top of that.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I'm making a chalkboard today. Just bought a vibrating sander, learned about grit size, and how to install said Emory paper. Learned about gauge of sheet metal, got 30x45 piece of 18 gauge galvanized steel sheet w holes punched into the corners. Got 1/2" ABS plywood for the backside. Already have primer and chalkboard paint. Need to go back to store to get right size bolts. I was right the 2nd time.
So today's the day I will own a traveling chalkboard again. Whoo Hoo!

I filled out my volunteer questionnaire too, I was like you last year overwhelmed and under prepared.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Found a lovely big, free griddle for our grilled cheese sandwiches. I also jumped ship from Greeters to Potti Patrol with Robbi Dobbs. She really needs me for a few days and I know I can still Greet by just checking at Greeters Camp on which days they're short handed. I really want to work on my tents and shade but it's raining. Yippy for rain!

Lucky, that's a great idea. YOU would be a fab oracle.
Next in line is a hawaiian shirt and cargo shorts. "Excuse me Miss Oracle but can you help me find my friend Chuck? He has a big white motorhome, a costco carport and came in on Sunday."
Lucky, "Of course my child. He is camped on the corner of 'Fuck Your Day' and 'Get a Clue'. Next in line please."
Oracle is fun and you're a natural.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Holy shit. It runs! Let me back up...after several years of talking about it, we decided to make the financially irresponsible decision to build an art car. Purchased a non-running 1970 VW Bug AutoStick in November. We stripped it down to the frame and I spent most of the winter weekends shivering in my garage trying to bring the engine back to life. Yesterday, it finally ran.
So my one item a day for BM list is "Get engine running".
Next up. "Build Art Car".

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Congratulation on getting the base vehicle running, skippy! Nice to hear all that hard work is paying off, can't wait to see and hear more about the project as the season progresses.
And cool patches, LonesomeBri! And woohoo for all the other prep-work and signing up that people are doing.
We finished the second (of eight) art posters we're doing for this year's nonsense, it felt great to get that one done. I also made a lot of progress in rendering textures and creating materials for some of the others, too. We also decided that we're going to test the idea of having one of them printed as a large vinyl banner. Cost-wise, it works out to be similar to what it costs for me to print myself on a large format printer I have access to, and getting it done as a banner would make it more durable and re-usable.
We went to one of the local big box hardware supply joints last night with the intention of checking out work light technology. We have some halogen work lights that we use for setup and teardown, but last year a random drunk person came stumbling through our camp on Sunday night after the temple burn and ran directly into the light, trashing the fixture. In thinking about a replacement, we wanted to take a look at LED lights, so we figured we'd check em out there. They usually have great displays for all their lighting with one of everything plugged in and lit up on a shelf above the stock, but of course when it came to work lights there was none of that. They had them on display on a shelf, but there was no power. The displays were tied down, so there wasn't even a chance to take it over to one of the other display shelves. Ah well. The trip wasn't a total loss, we'd been meaning to make the switch from CFL to LED on the remaining few decor and kitchen lights that aren't already LED, and found they had some decent looking and reasonably priced stuff for our needs.

I have an LED shop light roughly the same size as my halogen shop light and it produces a pretty good light output at very low current consumption. (23 watt vs 500 watt) Plus they aren't sensitive to bumping which will knock out a halogen bulb.

Got my bike lit.
Found the tricolor LED strips at a big online retailer for a good price with controller.
Made a nice 2400 mAh battery pack.
Modified my old dewalt charger to pump it up.
Depending on the color I choose it lasts from 2 to 8 hours.
Haven't figured the battery mount yet.
