Re: Rest In Peace
My dear husband died on Saturday after a one month battle with T cell lymphoma. Our last burn was 2012, but we planned to try to go this year. Not having anyone to make the trip with me, I doubt if I will be back. Anyway, he made a nice video of our last trip to share with our Midwestern friends, and I just thought I would share it here.

Elkay, I'm very sorry. Our lives are the one thing that we tend to take for granted. Your video was great & it's nice to see you enjoying yourselves so much. Our time together is probably our greatest gift we give to each other, & one we don't even realize we are giving.

elkay, So sorry for your loss. Your video kind of reminds me of my Sweetie and I in so many ways. It has been way to long since we have had a road trip. Sometimes it is hard for me to remember what is really important.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I too must add my name to the growing list of folks who are honestly and sincerely very sorry for your loss. Right now, words fail to convey the degree to which we all want to reach out to you and comfort you. Hopefully, you'll know it by our love for our fellow man.

thinking about your ink lately, I can still see their faces but can't remember their names.
Re: Rest In Peace
Lost my dad last night. The first constant in my life to go. He had been in hospice care for a while, so it wasn't unexpected, but it's still hard. He was suffering greatly in pain from cancer. Fucking Cancer. He was a retired Navy vet and was well cared for by the VA in those final months. All the nurses petted and fawned over him, which was really nice. He was a always a flirt and sucker for the female attention. He loved cruising around on his little scooter, smoking cigarettes with the other vets, and feeding the pigeons.
I went to breakfast today and talked about him with some new friends and didn't cry, which I thought was pretty strong of me. Not that I have to be strong. It just felt good to speak of him and not become a blubbering mess. You think you are ready, you try, but really you are not ready and you have no idea. I do hope that I get to go to TTITD to put a memorial at the temple. But I know there is always next year too. I just feel like it would be a nice release.

danibel, so sorry for your loss. He looks like a cheerful man who had a full life. I hope you make it this year to release something of his at the temple. Much love.

So,so sorry for your loss, danibel.
I lost 3 parents, always too soon.
allow me to share an old Viking wish:
May your grief be intense, for he deserves it
and short, because so do you.
surely, he's crossing Bifrost bridge, to dwell in Valhalla.

Can't say I know how you feel but I have an idea what you're going through as I've lost both my parents.
We thank your dad for his service

Re: Rest In Peace
Thank you all so much. Your well wishes are very sweet and appreciated. My amazing 15 year old sone was trying to tell me tonight at dinner how in different cultures death is celebrated as it's the next step towards a "beyond." I can't repeat it as eloquently as he said it, but maybe the sentiment comes through.
Thank you yiggy for the quote. I love it.

Your Dad had a great smile. I can see the flirt in that smile. I bet he was a hoot and lucky you for having an amazing dad.

I'm sorry about your dad Danibel. He looks happy in the photo, despite the tough times. And you're right, even though you've been able to brace yourself, it still hits hard. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
