No, I was wearing waterproofed boots that actually stuck to the pavement in places. The asphalt binder got so hot it melted, plus they use that damnable Pavon pavement crack filler and sealant, which ran in rivulets to the edge of the pavement. I had a thermometer there, and it measured 135 degrees held 2 feet off the pavement. Not surprising, since asphalt absorbs so much sunlight it's a 'black body' when it comes to radiation. It stores all the radiant heat it can, and it made us miserable.lucky420 wrote:But did you have shoes?^^ ^^

yeah Rhino, that brings back memories:
I was the "young, dumb, strong one" on our construction crew, so, in August here, 100 ish or a little higher degrees, I was put in the back of a 10 wheeler, to shovel out "hot mix", because there was no tailgate door, for doing narrow dumping, and we were patching our ditch line, 3' wide. Standing in that bed, down below any wind, on the hot asphault shoveling. after the second day, my boots delaminated, so they gave me a small piece of plywood to stand on so I'd not sink and ruin another pair......damn that was hot. drank gallons of water each day. shoveling as fast as I could, so I could have a job............

You talk about hot... I worked on the pouring floor of a Texas blast furnace during the Great Heat Wave of 1980. Molten iron coursing down open, brick lined ditches. One misstep could earn you 3rd degree burns or more. My only reference for you is the opening scene of "The Deer Hunter". Here is a typical pour-except we didn't have any fancy silver suits or face shields-just green fire retardant denim. And being the junior man, it was my job to take the temperature of this shit with a thermocouple on a ten foot pole.

*shuffles in, makes CCC*
I'm adding chicory to my coffee to see how it tastes, and suggestions?
nice trash fence dress. haha funny, I"ve seen pretty much that same sight out there many times.
getting stitches out of my leg today, so yay that!! finished the Keflex last night, so now yogurt and kimchee and pickled herring to get my gut going again. haha
MRI on my knee later today. Ultrasound next week.
Getting good insurance, for the first time in years has set me on seeing some doc or another seemingly twice per month, catching up on all the things I've neglected, broken, injured, gone wrong, or didn't/don't know about........jeeze, the staff are starting to call me by my first name and ask about Burning Man..........

Do your own fact checking and don't blindly follow all their suggestions.
Past performance shows that you know more about what's going on with your body than they do!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Yggy,
Please heed the words of Figgy and consider that those persons you are Consulting make their living doing that
all of my friends from medical school (except one other burner dude) have had several surgeries and replacements
they look at me knowing what is wrong with me (knees) and cluck
none of them (except the burner dude) dance all night
