Burner Profile site under heavy load!
FYI, the Burner Profiles site is currently (Wednesday 12:25pm PST) under heavy load, due to the volume of people hitting it to pre-register for next week's sale. If you're unable to get through or are seeing a connection error, wait a few minutes and try back again. A couple important things to note...
1) You can pre-register any time between now and noon PST on Saturday.
2) It does not matter what order you pre-register in (so pre-registering first doesn't have a benefit).
3) The ticket sale itself happens on a different (and much larger capacity) set of servers than the Burner Profiles site.
[1:00pm PST Update - Servers are up, but still under a heavy load and a server-side caching issue is causing some people to not see the button to pre-register. The tech team is working on this now]
1:18pm PST Update - The tech team reports the server-side caching issue has been resolved and that the servers are now functional. They are, however, still under pretty heavy load.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
If your burner profile loads and there isn't a Pre Register for Individual sale, can you assume you are good. thanks
Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
Umm. so just to be safe side;
If I'm not seeing the registration info under sparkle things, I'm actually registered?

Except that you'll have to go through the profile site to get to the ticketing site next week :p
Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
Thanks. Jesus this process is nerve wracking. Just a little "you done dude" message would have been cool.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
No worries, and seriously... don't stress too much. We've had issues like this with each year of doing pre-registration. Even though it's a 3 day window, people are excited and anxious and everyone tries to hit the pre-register button as soon as they can.
On paper, there's nothing wrong with that... but it's just way too much traffic for the wordpress engine. Every year the ticket team and tech team work closely with the WP engine folks to make sure that there are enough server resources... and even though they DID step things up... it's still a lot of demand. Wordpress is great for blogs and news sites where the viewing is spread out over days or weeks, but not so great with super high demand spikes.
Fortunately, the sale itself will take place on TicketFly's servers, which ARE designed to take such a beating.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
I am missing the "pre-registration" button. I already have a burner profile. Is the button on the dashboard page?
Edit:
Nevermind. The pre-registration link is on the right hand side of the Participate page. It took a few page loads to even get it to show up.

Yikes. I'm scared to think about what this will mean for next Wednesday...
(regarding amount of people trying to get tickets, not site functionality)
((although that's also a little scary))

Same. No pre-registration button under Sparkly Things. Other than:
"Looking to Volunteer? You'll need to fill out the Volunteer Questionnaire.
Looking for the BRC 2015 Event Forms? Forms open March 4th. More info is under Participate."

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
The button should be on the dashboard, under sparkly things. If you participated in the directed group sale and are not eligible to participate in this sale, it will give you a message to that effect.
For any issues with the burner profile site, you could either try again in a few hours or use the Contact Us page to get in touch with that team for support.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
No button showing is a server-side caching issue, people are working on that now.

The pre-sale registration button was missing for me too, but it just popped up about 2 min ago. Patience.

The tech team reports the server-side caching issue has been resolved and that the servers are now functional. They are, however, still under pretty heavy load.
Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
Registration button just showed up. Used it and got a confirmation code.
So, not good to go unless you get the confirmation code from the profiles page.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
Rememer folks there are a lot of burners trying to get registered, but this is not the sale and your registration order does not matter. Relax, you have more time to register if you have not. The directed sale went very smoothly, I hope it was a good beta test for this years open sale.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
Warning...Silly question coming. So I just registered and it went to a page with my unique code and it said 'just for kicks write it down'. OK. I did. Then I logged into my burner profile and it said I'm registered for the sale and it had my unique code. But it was a completely different code.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
That is weird Ratty. Mine unique number matches exactly. I am still waiting for my email, but I remember with the pre-sale it took a day or two. I would use the one on the email. You could send an email to the ticket people, but I don't know how helpful that will be. They may be overwhelmed.

Re: Burner Profile site under heavy load!
This is a great reason to sign up the first day. I emailed ticket support. It may take them 24 hours to reply and it also may take 24 hours to get a confirmation email. I hope this isn't a 'thing'.

If you experience anything unusual or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the ticket team via [email protected]. If you need general support with the Burner Profile site, please contact them here.
Back on topic, the heavy server load conditions experienced by people during the first few hours of pre-registration have passed. Those wishing to pre-register for next week's sale can do so with minimal delay.
