Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
Frustrating... when I first hit the site at noon I got right to purchase tickets, then it 404'd on me.. reloaded at went to queue. I had thought to go to the URL before the 404 but was so nervous about losing my queue I didn't... I am still in queue and upon hearing the sellout, I loaded the url and was taken right to the buy tickets page (sold out).
Wondering if queue could have easily been bypassed here.

Oh well, still feel happy for the 40,000 people who got tickets today. I am sure I will find one through other means!

I just got in. SOLD OUT
Absurd. I logged in at 12:00:29 So looking at other comments here it looks
like tickets (&VP) sold out in 5 to 15 seconds.
Cassanova just said sold out in 2 seconds - possible.
BM should officially announce TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
I was waiting early and in the queue at 11:59:99 and still no dice.
It is sounding like many who got tickets were those who clicked on the email link multiple times instead of waiting patiently in the queue. I hope this is not the majority. It would suck if people who played by the rules are the ones who got screwed.

...and now I don't even get the privilege of getting my time at the ticket counter... it just stopped the countdown saying all tickets are sold out.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
That was so incredibly disappointing.
I clicked the green button the instant it appeared. First it said 1 minute, then 28, then 49, then over an hour, then it was all over the place.
An hour and 10 minutes of waiting, and it finally counted down to zero.... 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... "It's your turn!" it said. "Now redirecting you to the ticket page".
None Available. Across the board.
After watching it count all the way down all the way to zero and then redirect to the ticket page, it was a real kick in the balls to see the event was sold out. It sure would have been nice if it just told me it was sold out when there were no tickets left instead of leading me on through the entire waiting period.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
I was in line at 12:00 on the dot; waited patiently for an hour and 10, when it was my turn, sold out. I refreshed about 100 times on the purchase screen and every few times a ticket option would pop up, but when I went to the cart, "no tickets available." Now the ticket options have been removed from the page. What a bummer

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?

What kinda puzzled me last night was I went to the register site and typed my username and password and received a message that "You didn't register" even though I registered on the 18th
Guess I'll try for the OMG

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
A small insight to my successful purchase. The link was not click-able for me in my email for whatever reason. Instead I copied and pasted the link into the URL bar RIGHT at 12:00.
I was put in Q, it said 14 mins. Then paused. Then 1 hour... then went down to 1 min within 10 mins... then got in.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
Got to the front of the line! The only ticket option is $40 donation. OK, so I'm not going, I can at least support Burning Man. But then Ticketfly requires paying for a delivery method for a donation. Say what???

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
There are 400 tickets for sale already on Stubhub for $1000 each. Vehicle passes for $400. $1800 profit for being able to get in in the first few seconds.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
This was interesting. Was anyone else in queue before noon? I clicked on the link a minute or two prior to noon and was put in queue. 50 minutes later, I was able to purchase tickets but no vehicle pass.

Most of those "tickets" were on Stubhub before the sale today. Those people are banking that they'll be able to get a ticket for less than the $1000 (or whatever they're asking), and make a profit.

Once the sale begins at 12pm (noon) PST* on Wednesday, February 18, click this link to enter the sale: http://tickets.burningman.org/purchase/ ... o=5LBA98T2
You can also enter the sale from a button at the top of the ticket page
This here was on my e-mail it says click this link , it never lighted up and ended up going to ticket page a few sec late. It should have said copy and paste this to your browser . Dam this shit .
Will try Step again this year.

I do not believe all tickets sold in 1 sec.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
And the fact that OMG and STEP tix don't have to be picked up at will-call this year plays further into scalper's hands.jayceeco wrote:There are 400 tickets for sale already on Stubhub for $1000 each. Vehicle passes for $400. $1800 profit for being able to get in in the first few seconds.
But, it is what it is. Demand way outstrips supply and in that situation, there's not much they can do on a practical level unless they decide to make you tie a name to every ticket you purchase, and then make the cost to change that name be exorbitant (or simply don't give people that option).
That'll upset a lot of people, of course, who turn out not to be able to go and are stuck holding a useless and expensive ticket.
They're in a tough situation that's not really their fault.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
Sounds like you have html turned off in your email client. Some clients do that by default.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
I suspect the assumption that you get placed in a queue based solely on when you clicked is not true.pacerpilot wrote:I clicked within 1 sec and it came back with a wait of 41 min. then the line paused....I waited with times all over until the message said sold out...
I do not believe all tickets sold in 1 sec.
It's certainly not true that the green button showed up for everybody at the same time either.

Re: Who got tickets in the Individual Sale?
The queue page auto refreshed about once per minute. So, if you clicked the link before the sale started and didn't manually refresh, you could have been up to a minute behind. But yeah, it's not when you clicked, it's when the ticketfly server received your request. And there are factors that could affect that that are outside the user's control.
