Low income tickets get a vehicle pass at will call for those that didnt get one in the main sale, so knowing or making friends with a low income ticket holder could prove to be a loophole for all this. Also I don't think the vehicle pass cap is a hard permit cap like the general tickets are, so if the lack of VPs remains near the OMG time I wouldnt be surprised if more are released.

Oh! I thought you meant the intersection of gate road and the will call exist, that gets called Apex. That makes so much more sense!

How can they say they didn't sell out of VP's last year when they most certainly did.

If a person gets a ticket, and no V pass, what then? Will people be able to drop off their gear and then park in overflow?

No. You can pay someone to transport your gear and take the Burner express bus or carpool.

I think the goal is get it down to where only DGS folks get vehicle passes Everyone else will express in. That way it will be more coachella like. For example, If i'm able to get a ticket I'm going to have to be a spectator since I won't be able to bring a camp/bar/carny games etc.

Thus I'm not even really planning to go this year.

We are all going to need a whole new parking/camping area just outside the gate. We've bought our tickets fair and square for the event but obviously we will be forced to walk in without a vehicle pass. What address should we tell our friends to meet us at? "We're at the corner of Will Call @ UR Screwed?
Should I drive my Mutant Vehicle around the outside of the perimeter fence? Whoo Hoo!

I gotta call BS! How much will it cost us now? Pay someone to transport our camp and MV into the event? In addition to the cost of our tickets, supplies, gifts, time off work and travel expense? .... and then we have to arrange to get there WITHOUT a vehicle from 120 miles. We've given rides from Reno for the last 6 years. I'm afraid this will be our last if at all.

God forbid that everyone just relax and wait until the Tickets/ Passes For Sale boards open*, and then buy one of the innumerable passes that will come up for sale (like they did last year), but, of course, that takes the sheer joy of pointless panic out of the picture.

There will still be opportunities to buy passes in the OMG Sale (even if you already got tickets you'll be able to register for VP's only), and there are certain to be plenty of extra's from people who's transportation plans solidify & they discover they don't need one.

Or people can continue enjoying the internet fed panicking over something that probably won't be an actual issue.

Last year BM sold VP's at will call to anybody that needed them.

I'd be surprised if they didn't do it again this year!

figgy, Seriously? I didn't know that. I'm not at all panicked or suspicious of today's outcome. I don't have a ticket but it's early yet. If this is the biggest set back of this years prep, I'll be so happy. Hardly anything goes exactly as planned. I better leave room in the van for a rider if I don't have a pass.

We'll just have to see. I think that it's quite faulty logic for the BMORG to assume that since only 27,000 passes were used last year, if they only sell 27,000 passes they'll all somehow get distributed perfectly where they're needed. It's sort of like weighing your compost pile and determining to buy that much less food next year.

It specifically says that you cannot register for the OMG sale if you have already purchased tickets in any of the other sales.
You can only register to buy tickets in the OMG Sale if you have not previously bought tickets through either the Directed Group Sale, the Individual Sale, or STEP.

You know, judging by how quick people are to post their distaste for the BMorg system, I think this statement is one of the most accurate things posted so far. Figjam's right. People didn't get tickets last year and these boards lit up with complaints and conspiracy theories. Just imagine the response if people actually GOT tickets but no vehicle pass and either a) couldn't go or b) was turned away at the gate. Can you imagine the firestorm? Yet, I don't recall a 100+ page thread on it....

In short, vehicle passes are the least of our concerns. We should be more worried about the Dustpocalypse of 2015 due to the horrible playa conditions. (Is it too soon for that thread? )

I have 2 tickets and ***no vehicle pass.*** There are only 1250 left from the Org that I can try to buy. Otherwise, I can try my luck at buying one from another burner or scalper.

***If I don't get a vehicle pass, will I be turned away at the gate?***

Unless BM.ORG steps up and answers that question with an un-ambiguous "No, we will not turn you away.", then YES, I AM WORRIED.

You **cannot** compare last year's VP situation to this year's, as there was a large quantity of unused passes last year.

Folks were handing their excess VPs back in at gate to be re-distributed to people without. I hadn't heard that they were sold but I've heard from gate folk they were handing out the ones that were turned in.

There's no way the BMORG will allow the 1000s of people who got tickets but no VPs yesterday to either show up at the gate without them, or decide not to go. The shitstorm would be too tremendous to bear. Just like in 2011, the first year tickets sold out, when large numbers of core camps ended up without tickets, they improvised and came up with the directed ticket sale, they will improvise something else to address the VP shortage. Calls for carpooling are bullshit for this event, so they'll have to do something.

There was no public post about the VP passes sold at will call, but my many well informed sources said they were sold at $50 a pop.

Will call probably didn't want people depending on this as it would just add to their burden, so TRY to get your VP before the event!!!!!!!!! 8)

<>To the original poster:
You are in Seattle the largest concentrations of burners outside SF and LA. If you can't get a vehicle pass on the secondary market or carpool you (refrains from saying something bad here).
</>

The BLM and Nevada highway patrol are asking Burning Man to GROW UP AND BE RESPONSIBLE in managing traffic, if it wants to expand the population cap in 2016. That means that the BORG has to manage vehicle passes and not throw the system out out at the gate because of a few complainers. I would guess the BMORG's desire to raise the population cap is more important to the BORG (and to burners) than turning away people at the gate who know in advance they will be turned away.

Just as some burners bought early sale tickets and general sale, some burners bought extra vehicle passes because they were cheap. Make friends with burners who can connect you in person to the secondary market and to carpooling.

If you have a ticket and no vehicle pass, you can always sell your ticket to another burner with their transportation in order because they are GROWN UP AND RESPONSIBLE.
