And how, pray tell, do you intend to pay for "this" with no income and increased living expenses?

Hello,my name is Benny, I'm just a good old guy from West Texas. I'm retired, love camping, atv riding and river rafting. I've been trying to get tickets to BM for many years, somehow we finally did it. But no parking pass, but I'm sure one will turn up. This is a neat site ! Looking forward to this life changing event !

Hello my name is Bert i am from Rotterdam The Netherlands. I am a little older ( 52 ) year. I've worked my butt of for 38 years. Owned a Ducati Motorcycle workshop but got serious health trouble last year. This made me think about the live i was living. ( always though to go do nice things after retirement ) Made a dramatic but right decision. Sold the shop and start writing, painting and doing things i already would do for several years. Going to BM gives me a feeling of going home. Can't explain why but thats how it feels. I hope to meet nice people to talk to and looking forward to a fantastic week for everybody who joins in at BM.

ps- not a sock- just could not revive my long dormant eplaya account, so started anew.

Hi everyone! I'm Diana-Smiles, and I'm finally making it to the Big Burn this year!!!! I've been burning at Playa del Fuego for a few years now and hale from Delaware. I run a theme camp there called Pigment of the Imagination, which is the community art studio. Pigment receives art grant money for paint and canvases so that PdF participants can stop by and paint at any time throughout the burn. I also like to participate by volunteering as the parking goddess and sometimes I help DPW with set up and tear down, but mostly I just feed them. I am so excited to make camp and snark and create with you all! :D

Hi My name is Kat. Originally from Ga but planned an adventure to Sacramento and love it here. Ive been wanting to go to BM since I move to Cali in 2012. I am hopeful this year to locate a ticket. I have a back ground in event planning, children's entertainment, theatre, customer service, management, automotive, yoga, and even insurance. Im pride myself on wanting to experience all this world has to offer and being a true doer. I've met quite a few burners and feel like this should be the year. Hope to see you all in September.

Wow! So many new faces all at once. Tis the season. Welcome one and all. Search the board for all the answers to the universe. (Then ask us anything. Maybe we'll tell you.) We'll have a group hug on Tuesday after opening the gates. Welcome...

Hey ! I am a burner virgin from Melbourne, Australia. Heading over to Black Rock City this year with 5 friends

I am ready to enter the bizarre pseudo realities of BM - only bringing with me, a bag of glitter and an open mind.

I love meeting new people - and what better place than BM to let me run wild and meet the most interesting characters in the world.

Any veteran burners out there have any good shops they would recommend to buy costumes?

Hey Hey!

I'm Everett and I'm happy to have celebrated another year on this blue dot (Feb.21). I found out about Burning Man a few years ago and was immediately mesmerized. I think I watched every YouTube and Vimeo video on online to date, and I'm happy to be joining the Burner culture this Fall. Looking forward to learn about the artist community and how to start an art project to bring to the playa. I would like to build one and bring it back to our city as a public art display.

When I'm not doing faculty development and/or multimedia development for our distance learning program at Alabama A&M University, I look for cool, passionate, mind blowing ideas in the northern Alabama area as a TEDx organizer and entrepreneur community builder. I love to laugh and to have others laugh along. Can be persuaded to do a lot for the right amount of (good quality) chocolate chip cookies.

Hope to meet you soon!

Looking for a taste of home

Post by Torquill » Mon Mar 02, 2015 10:40 pm

Alison here... no playa name, despite being a seven-year Burner. We've been out near 5:15 and C, camping with the fine folks at Camp Nude, and the last few years we've even had a light-up street sign for our RV (which is the smaller BRAT). I'm a Bay Area native, specifically from Concord. I've moonlighted with various volunteer causes over the years, I still do bike repair for all our neighbors, and this last year I brought a brand new harp I had just finished building... I got a blast out of handing it to people to try out, and found a few new friends that way. :)

This may be the first year since 2008 that I won't be able to go; my finances aren't looking too good. I figured that if I can't go home this time, maybe I can make a few more connections in the default world. I'm looking for cool, artistic burners in the East Bay to hang out with... I'll make an intro post with some details about my interests and skills, and see who I can find. :)

Hi from Oklahoma. I'm a burning man virgin and am so happy to be coming to BRC this August! I'm coming to the playa with an open mind and an open heart. I've known about burning man for some time now, ever since stumbling on the website several years ago (had to have been the late 90's, early '00's. I was intrigued then and it hasn't gone away. The desert has always held a magical mystery to me so burning man having it's home in the desert makes this journey all the more enticing. I know this experience won't be easy but my aim is to go in as prepared as I can. I want to learn and experience all that I can and meet as many people as I can. I've been reading through the eplaya threads for a few weeks now and have finally registered so that I can start meeting everyone. A word on my name minnow. It's something my dad used to call me when I was little. I was a tiny thing. I was minnow and my sis was muffin. I look forward to learning the ropes and digging into this new world.

cheers :D

Greetings, all.

My name is Andrew, and I hope to be a 53-year-old birgin this year (employment permitting). I first got serious information about BM from one of the regulars in ESD, who was looking at equipment and computer software to help manage the responders in BRC, and I am an author of such software. However, I am also a practicing amateur thespian (gotta watch out for those actors, they do it in public on stage! ) as well as a volunteer emergency responder. Looking forward to the plans my local regional is up to for this year to see how I can participate.

By the way, I've been enjoying the snark competitions. Do medals get awarded for this?

Welcome to ePlaya, Andrew! You sound like a well-rounded cat. :D

I had snark medals, but Simon De La Playa sold them for contraband.

Welcome to ePlaya, Gisele! Your best approach at this point may be simply to read a whole bunch -- both here on ePlaya and on the main website. Practically every possible question is answered both places, and you will absorb some of the Event "ethos" along the way. :D
