Sensei thinks Jaeger is best left for sore throats. I'll Have a schnapps like a good scandahoovian (even if I'm not actually scandahoovian).

I thought I read some place you were talking about a tumble with some guy recently, and it seemed as though it was some one new, or a recently new relationship.

But hey maybe because your the new girl I just expect your hooked up with someone new.

OK. I've settled into the comfy chair next to the fire. Got my beer and pretzels. I'm ready. Which only means I'll fall asleep.

So does anybody know if MoisturePup is somebody's sock?
I didn't read the whole post yet or check the links, but it seems like a funny send up of the petition folks.

a drinking song~

Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.

(Thanks Mr. Yeats)

Hey, what's up y'all? I have been thinking about the petition thing a bit and am coming to the conclusion that it is just load of classic Jim Mason. Brian Doherty in the newish Burning Man book talked a fair bit about Mason's Temporal Decomposition in '97 (ya had to be there,) and his spectacular failure on the G7 Puppets or whatever they were supposed to be.

If I remember this correctly--Tisha has the copy of the book so I can't look back to check--Larry got pissed over the puppets because Mason was laboring on them solo without a hope in hell of getting them functional before the end week. It was a pretty dismal sight, Mason sweating it out right in the slot where the Center Camp street enters onto the esplanade. Apparently, Mason had kinda misled the organization regarding his ability to make it happen. Not that this means his petition is necessarily unworthy, but in some aspects it does have a little of the Mission Impossible-thing going on.

Speaking of '97, that was the year that no one was really sure whether the thing was going to happen at all. I camped that year in total squallor right on the esplanade. Something like 12,000 people showed up to the Fly Ranch/Hualapai Playa and on burn night, it felt like the world was exploding. Keeeeee-rist that was some fucking experience.

Its a rainy night here on the EC, perfect for telling stories 'round the fire.

I have been and intend to continue drinking a local dark beer of some sort with a name that I do not recall. However, since this is a bar of the mind, I will just think about it.

So, giggs--may I say you are looking especially bouyant this evening--how did you first learn of that which is known as Burning Man?

Why thank you ever so much, Mr. Alien. CAn't say as I recall exactly where or when, but may I say I admire your taste in dark local beers of forgotten names, cheers!

It looks to me like Jim Masson has gotten a lot of cash from the Borg since then and starting to check out the lists and it's looking like the shipyard art collective might have gotten at least a quarter and possably a third of the grants awarded over the years.

I don't think these are in order.

Would you mind bagging those up after we're done with them here and bring them to Tisha's on the Playa next summer... It dawned on me, looking at them, that they would be great out there...

..... but why do I always get the apricot?.... shit...
Scotch please!..........

Zu - good, fast link-work.

You gotta read the book, it's pretty freakin' good. I don't know who has it after Tisha, but put your name on the list!

As Doherty sees it, the man is built, burns, and rises again just to give us all an excuse to get together and stand around the burn barrel, talking.

When I consider Burning Man in that context, the "art" seems to fade rather far into the background.

Well, I plan on it, but I have to leave early... I'm doing a company bowling party tomorrow... In the kilt... It's gonna kill them to see a guy bowling in a kilt and a Hawaiian shirt!
