Hi From Oklahoma--first time burner

Post by minnow » Sun Mar 08, 2015 10:18 pm

I originally posted under the older thread but thought I'd copy under a new thread:

Hi from Oklahoma. I'm a burning man virgin and am so happy to be coming to BRC this August! I'm coming to the playa with an open mind and an open heart. I've known about burning man for some time now, ever since stumbling on the website several years ago (had to have been the late 90's, early '00's. I was intrigued then and it hasn't gone away. The desert has always held a magical mystery to me so burning man having it's home in the desert makes this journey all the more enticing. I know this experience won't be easy but my aim is to go in as prepared as I can. I want to learn and experience all that I can and meet as many people as I can. I've been reading through the eplaya threads for a few weeks now and have finally registered so that I can start meeting everyone. A word on my name minnow. It's something my dad used to call me when I was little. I was a tiny thing. I was minnow and my sis was muffin. I look forward to learning the ropes and digging into this new world.

cheers :D

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome, Minnow! :D

Check this out, if you haven't already:

. . . and maybe add yourself to the lists of neighboring states, or ones you might drive through. Knowing local Burners can be instrumental in ridesharing or just getting great advice.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Hey Minnow

Your attitude towards your first solo burn is spot on!

Im also a BM Virgin going solo all the way from Scotland. Burning Man has always been in the back of my mind and my friend and I decided to go for it.
Unfortunately i was the only one i my crew to get a ticket... But secretly i think going solo for the first time will be more of a thrill. Nothing to hold you back.
Black Rock is our oyster!!!

Flying to San Fran to find like minded burners and hitch a lift.

Soooo excited!!!
Don't worry about a thing, 'cause every little thing gonna be all right.

Welcome Scotland and Oklahoma!

ePlaya is a great resource for asking questions after doing some research and reading on the Burningman.org site and the internet. Search using Google of ePlaya itself is also a great strategy. There are more experienced burners here and more accurate information than any other online forum.

Best burn!
