Gears and Beers looking for more mechanics/fixers
Gears and Beers looking for more mechanics/fixers
Are you a gearhead? Do you like fixing things? Do you like cold beer? If so, our camp is looking for more members this year we want you!
Camp Gears and Beers is a service camp dedicated to helping all the folks who have automotive or other problems on the playa and the proliferation of free beer. If you are mechanically minded and enjoy helping people, have a fair bit of common sense, and are looking for a low drama camp to hang with, come over and join us
Cheers
Hiro

Hi Hiro!
Let me know where you guys are going to be camped when you know-BRC Hardware likes to know where it's fellow fixers are! Maybe we can find a time for a fixer camp get together.

We were at 7:30 and C last year and I believe we are aiming for the same area next year. We most definitely should set that up! We should wrangle in some of the others like the Camp Magyver and BRC WeldandRepair as well.
Cheers

My husband, an ASE Master certified mechanic & parts manager, and I are coming for the first time. I'm not a mechanic, but I would be a terrific assistant and I love good craft beer:) Erik never stops fixing things, anything! Thoughts?

MacGyvers' Union reporting in. We're asking for 7:30 again this year - and definitely would love to find out where the other resource/fixit camps are so we can spread the word! We sent a lot of people down to both G&B and BRC Hardware last year.test517 wrote:We were at 7:30 and C last year and I believe we are aiming for the same area next year. Sweet! Once we get placement, lets start a thread for the fixer camps and I will create a simple map webpage for all of us, that we can print out/laminate/give to the ranger stations, etc...MacGyvers' Union reporting in. Re: Gears and Beers looking for more mechanics/fixers
I'm a newbie, so please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what's the tool situation? Would you need fixers to bring their own suite of tools?
Re: Gears and Beers looking for more mechanics/fixers
Not necessary. I am bringing a set of cheap harbor freight tools that we have been using for the last few years. If you a professional set, you will definitely miss it, but they get the job done and I don't care if they get messed up, borrowed, or lost.Javaman59 wrote:I'm a newbie, so please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what's the tool situation? Hey Javaman59, if you show up on your first Burn and help fix bikes you will be a hero. My own Burn is tied to riding my bike around. I've had bike problems over the years and have visited many on-playa bike shops. A little knowledge can go a long long way and save the day... save the whole Burn for some of us.Javaman59 wrote:I'm a newbie, so please forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what's the tool situation?
