first time burner from so cal

Post by loveispatient » Fri Mar 27, 2015 3:02 am

Hello,

And pardon my late night rant due to my insomnia :p I'm hoping to attend this year or in the coming years to. It's something I have had on my mind for years and little by little I get more inclined to actively do something about it and make it happen I have no plans yet or a group to attend with I'm letting nature takes its course and guide me to the right group. I've been stuck in a routine of work sleep work sleep and haven't nurtured my soul in forever and I see it taking its toll I made a promise to myself to do the things again that excite my spirit and cater to my inner being and this is next step for me, in the time to come hope to meet you all soon on the playa and am looking forward to emersing my soul with thousands of strangers who I know I will become one with In the desert <3 enough of my rant thank you in advance for guiding me in the direction I need to take to get this journey started

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Welcome!
Yes, that work-sleep-work will try to hurt you, and inevitably succeed.
Hang around here a bit, and read the First-Timer Information on the website. That will give your mind a break right there.

On the topic of the busy human mind.... Last year I spend six hours a day for two weeks in mental health therapy. (It was marvelous!) One hour we were issued line drawings, and told to color them in with crayons. Several in the group shrugged it off as useless kid stuff. But I tore into it, coloring mostly outside the lines -- just goofing with it. Somewhere on that drawing of a Hindu temple or whatever it was, I found a way to draw in a turbo-charger.

And at the end of the hour.... It dawned on me that I felt remarkably rested and refreshed! They had tricked me into resting my mind! Essentially, it was meditation -- which can perhaps be described as fooling the mind into doing absolutely nothing important.

Of course, the entire Burning Man thing is very much like that. Inescapable mental recreation.

Thank you for the reply! Yes I feel emotionally drained and like I'm just going through the motions day in and day out. I used to be really into the music festival scene from 07-2013 but then I decided to be "responsible" and became a workaholic work my ass off to travel or attend festivals when I had enough vacation hours. More than anything I've realized money is nothing to me, it's nice to have but I focused the majority of time trying to make as much as I could and in the end still feel empty in side I'm not doing the things that truly make me happy. Mind you I'm only 24 lol I'll be 25 in Jul. I can finally rent a car on my one whoo fucking Ray lol.I actually read everything on the burning man website possible to familiarize myself with the experience and have an idea of what to prepare for when the time comes for my to finally emerse myself on the playa honestly just reading it reminds me of the things that I truly value and make me happy not of the things this "world" I've enduldged myself to think would make me happy. Any who there I go ranting my ass off again I look forward to meeting y'all on the playa in the near future !

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.
