Hof party, 2015

Hi gang!!
well, with the non winter, and early spring, seems time to begin the planning.
First off would be dates? We can have more than one, but one seems easiest to plan.
So, maybe chime in on who's available and when, and we can try to plan it for max convenience!
later summer water and fire season considerations may apply. Not that it would stop anything, but just to think about.

a couple of notes:
first, and foremost, "all are welcome". whether a vet here, noob, or not even a member.
it's a rough road, but not necessarily 4x4, but high ground clearance is nice, though we've had Prius and other small cars make it. it can be narrow and one lane in spots, the last 6 miles is dirt/gravel.( typical mountain road, IMHO, but others may chime in with their thoughts or experiences)
High elevation, if oxygen or such is an issue, consider this (6K' elevation ish)
of course "leave no trace".
there is a two stall outhouse, and spring water for drinking if you choose, camp sites, a few sites for campers, thought it's a tight fit, so any longish RV would have trouble. Ping me for particulars, I've taken, or attempted, all sizes of vehicles and trailers in there, and can advise.

well Eric, if someone was coming from down there, would you be willing to ride along?
Another option is the train, which I'm pretty sure stops in Colfax, which is under 20 mins from my house, I'd be happy to pick you up and drop you off. Or I'm sure others here would be, too.

What Lucky said, unless you mean a small plane airport? One is about 10 mins from my house.

Ygmir I would love to come to a gathering at the Hof. Am I reading this right? It's 20 minutes from Colfax? I thought you were in Tahoe. In any case. I would love to see some friendly faces.

I could fly into Reno and rent a car. Small plane? I don't think mine can climb that high, it's only half a v-dub with 4 gallons of fuel. I am booked the first 2 weeks of May, otherwise am free as the proverbial bird. My stepsister lives in Calpine, she and her hubby are burners also. I would really like to come out.

no, my house is 20 mins from Colfax.
the Hof is 1.5 hours, or 50 miles, from there.
Be great to see you, no matter!! c'mon up!!

MGB: yeah if we can't get you a ride, you could rent a car and get there.
But, a few folks come from Reno, maybe one would have room?

A trick I was taught when I went vegetarian 28 years ago: if you get a craving for meat, let yourself have it. Not daily, but if you deny yourself you'll just want it more. If it's going to work for you, eventually you don't want it (it took me about 4-5 months to go meat free, I haven't eaten it willingly since - people have fucked up burritos & soups on me, and my reaction is not pretty...). Get yourself a good cookbook - any of the "Green's" cookbooks are great, or Madhur Jaffrey's "Eastern Vegetarian Cooking" or "World Vegetarian Cooking" (love those two). My boyfriend is an omnivore, but his diet is mostly vegetarian now, by choice. There are tons of great foods to be had (maybe not in your hometown, without you cooking them).

As for the Hof party, I don't find out what weekend I'm off each month until the last minute. Make the plans, and I'll see if I can arrange the weekends off. I know the last two weekends in June are out for me, other than that I might have wiggle room.

Any time in June would work, July too. May - maybe.
Pick the date as early as you can so I can get the air tix and plan with the other people I want to see in California/Nevada/Oregon.
