1). As evidenced by several episodes of The Walking Dead, zombies love the flames... Light something up and they will come a shambling. Hell, even road flares will distract them for a little while.
2) Sunday night, we learned that loud music and sparkling disco lights will do the same. Lured a whole zombie hoarde into semi trucks trailers.
3). Pink eye....

They both wander for hours looking for that special bar, restaurant, person that was 'right here'.
