Well, the stove can get the grill literally red hot in very short order, and if you bring a roasting pan to put over the plate, you can get the overhead heat you want. 8)

When we get closer to the event, perhaps in July, I can coordinate cooking facilities via e-mail with all our campers. Unless, of course, everything needed gets lined up here first. :D

yeah i went ahead and posted it here as to generate ideas and interest. plus i find coordinating with multiple people via email a huge pain in the ass since you typically have only a few people contributing through email. :D

Right enough, but I have everybody's e-mail address, so I can distribute information and questions. Some of them are not on ePlaya.

I don't care for the idea of a community kitchen unless EVERYBODY can be persuaded to leave it EXACTLY the way they found it so it will be ready for the next person to use.

I've seen too many horror stories to think this won't be a drama seed.

I don't mind letting people use my facilities as I can make sure everything gets put back where it was, clean as it was, or they don't get a second chance!!!

We are not planning a community kitchen. It is simply Navi who has volunteered to cook us a few meals, since cooking is a hobby of his. If he borrows equipment from Figjam or others, it will be between those two people.

Yes, we want to be a worry- and drama-free camp! :D

I know Elliot.

I just use that example for anything that gets borrowed in camp.

Make sure it gets put back where it was, in the condition that was! 8)

Hobby is taking it a bit far. It is just cooking is something I enjoy doing for the camps im in at burns. I'm a big sucker for hot meals, If nobody is interested then I will just bring my tiny portable grill and just worry about myself.

In my theme camp I normally cook a meal on Thursday for those that show up early to volunteer setup and Friday night for everyone in the camp, then I typically try to get each campmate to cook a meal if they want to. We have had 1 instance where they left the whole area messy with trash all over and that was towards the end of the burn before they left so we handled that problem.

So.... This is not fine art, or even an average illustration by today's computerimized standard. But it is my sketch and I'm sticking to it.

That is, I will, if you are able -- yes you! -- are able to make out what-is-what in a reasonable time, say three to five seconds for a general understanding, and 30 seconds to read the lettering. If this illustration gets the point across, then Otis Gudenof will approve it.
I kind'a figure the main purpose of the required Camp Layout Plan is to show that I have read the instructions, and have counted the expected heads. And changes are bound to happen over the next five months.

That said, the size and shape of the activities area will likely stay as it is.

Comments, please!

Looks pretty clear to me, Elliot. (You can tell old Otis that I said so.)
Do you know if you'll get to be on 5:00 yet?
Thinking Delle & Kenny and I will be aiming for that general vicinity again.
Hard to believe it's already April!!

Won't know our placement until... hm... early July, I think it said. But I am asking for 5:00 and explaining our three-year tradition there.

Seeing the drawing on the screen... I suppose I can touch up the yellow, so it is closer to even. The faint areas are more visible after scanning than on the original.

I already knew where you're putting the DIY area, but it was hard to read on the drawing... maybe a little darker lettering there?

Good point. I will go over the lettering. That pink turned out awful dark for a highlighter.

No, I have that covered -- pardon the pun. This is just the drawing that goes to the Placement Team with the application. There are other, more secret drawings, buwahahahahah.

Upgrades to the website continue! And there is now a hidden "inside joke" somewhere on the site. I am offering a FREE ice cold beverage of your choice to the first who identifies it -- to be served on Playa, of course.

If you notice anything amiss with my website, such as text that is not legible against the background, or any other real problem, please tell me about it! When I "proofread" it, I sometimes see major faults, but it could be my prehistoric computer.

Hi Elliott. That's a fine looking page. I didn't get any farther than the main page yet. the text starts out with a yellow background but then it ends up being text superimposed over the map and I can't read that part.

Thanks, Ratty. Then that's not "just me". I will get right on it. My wild guess is that the yellow text-box is too long. I will divide it up, and see if that works.

The LNT page is still nothing but a long boring bare text. But the other pages are sort'a complete. And the technical problem seems to be gone from the site.

First I learn to fix bicycles. Then I learn (a little bit about) website-making. And it is all thanks to that wacky idea some guys had on Baker Beach a couple decades ago!

:?:
Jealousy is steaming out my ears. Our colleagues at Playa Bike Repair have such a cool logo -- they adopted the Pabst Blue Ribbon logo. Didn't even have to change a single letter. We ought to have something almost as cool. I'm looking for corporate logos with EBS, but no luck.

IBM is distinctive, and already has the B in the middle. The STP oval would be nice, but the B would not fit like the T does.
Maybe a Ford oval with IBM-style letters?

Ideas?

Elliot,

I found these with a Google search using EBS, Inc. as the search word. One of these might have a usable logo. There are more, I just did not search farther

Emerging Business Solutions

EBS Northwest

EBS-4U

Well, this GoDaddy website company is clearly the Walmart of website peddlers. Low price -- even worse quality. I'm ready to start over with a more reliable outfit. So don't spread the camp URL any further. It will probably be easiest to start from scratch with a slightly different name.

It's a wonder I can write my name. I'm NO artist. Here goes. If you want to make your own logo, (monogram), an 'S' on it's side looks like bike tires. 'E' makes fine handle bars and of course that only leaves one place to put the 'B'. I can picture it but I can't draw depth. Oh well, Look up bike logos or naked logos and pick one.

You may be onto something there, Ratty. And I cannot draw either, but we have people who can -- Patsh, for example, who suggested a variation on the H-D logo. Here is my first try at this:

Image

The difficult parts will be getting the B to look right, and getting the whole thing to resemble a bicycle. But the E and the S can certainly become wheels. Some spokes should do it.
