Welcome to ALL Burner Optimists

Post by Ratty » Fri Apr 03, 2015 10:52 am

Welcome to the 'Happy Thread' where the sun always shines. Are you a Burner Optimist?

Do you see the good in people, (even when they make you mad)?
Do you believe that the event will continue to be a great place to spend your vacation every year?
Are you welcoming, supportive and forgiving towards all Eplayans? ***

Then you are truly an optimist. There is too much hate in the world. It doesn't cost anything to smile and say something nice. Put away that sandwich sign that says 'The end is near'. Bury the hatchet with your old foes and shake hands. It really is going to be alright.

There will always be naysayers, doomsday predictors and selfish people that bully the tolerant ones. That is just a fact of life. We forgive you. We love you anyway. We can't wait to hug you in the dust.

This thread is in NO way connected to any international club or organization.
*** There may be a few exceptions such as shirtcockers and DJs.

I'm giving this a nudge over to Politics & Philosophy, since I think that's a better fit.

To answer the question, I do generally think of myself as an optimist. I try to be optimistically objective, which means that while I do have a positive attitude I try to look at situations as objectively as possible, and play devil's advocate from time to time.

For example, it's worth pointing out that your *** disclaimer pretty much means that you're not truly an optimist. Seriously, welcome the DJ and welcome the shirtcocker. It's a big-ass playa, and if you don't like the music that person loves to play (be it house, dubstep, mashups, death metal, or polka), just move along to the next of a thousand parties. And if someone wants to go without pants or a shirt or whatever, who cares? As long as they're not imposing their person upon your person in an inappropriate way (which is wrong regardless of whether they're naked or not), let 'em be.

I'm not sure what it says about me that I'm pro-apocalypse. No 'end is nigh' sandwich boards for me, but as a student/fan of chaos theory I imagine that it's all pretty inevitable... but I aim make the most of all the moments and enjoy it as much as I can.

I am optimistic that balance will come. Even if it requires sanitizing a few billion monkeys. The Ten Guidelines

Optimism is a great thing. So is pessimism. Somewhere in the middle is a whole picture.

I am a Possibleist, i.e. If it has never happened before it might not happen. If it has happened before it is possible that it will happen again.

Sometimes a true optimist believes that a better world is possible, and tries to reach that.
That optimistic struggle is sometimes called pessimism by others.

By the way, oh yeah, what a beautiful day out. I don't see a cloud in the sky. Flowers are blooming in my backyard and the dogs are chasing butterflies.

I'm usually pretty optimistic. I keep a fuckit bucket nearby.

Although I can get pretty annoyed with people at times. I usually stomp my foot, cuss like a trucker and then throw it in the fuckit bucket...
