Hi. It's been a while. I've been REALLY busy with kids and work and I really haven't had the bandwidth for the BM stuff the past few years. I do get a dose with some friends up north in Mendocino once in a while, though. And frankly, that's been all I need.

But if someone could page back one page and see the posting I left at the end of the previous page, I would really appreciate it.
Basically the deal is a friend of a friend is on really hard times and could use a gallery to show her art in SF. Page back one page and have a look. If you can help out, that would be super. Most of all, you would be helping out a little girl who has no idea what a jam she is in.

At about the same time she suffered an illness that had her on bed rest for three months. She is a single mom of a special needs girl and is in a jam. She really needs a place where she can show her work.
Here are some links to her stuff:

I thought I might try to reach out and see if anyone knew of a gallery that needed an artist to place there.
If you have a serious lead, message me and I can put her in contact with them.

Re: Where the fuck does this go?
I found an injured screech owl in my driveway last night and I took it to some animal rescue people.
I went outside planning to head to get some garden stuff at the store, and I noticed a cat at the end of my driveway looking at something. The cat didn't immediately run away when I was in the driveway and I went and found the owl sitting in my driveway. At the time, the owl was in shock or a daze I assume after getting hit by a car. The cat hadn't done anything yet, but I went and grabbed the owl and brought her inside the house and put her on a pillow and posted a facebook post on what to do and looked up some animal rescue stuff. While I was doing that, the owl woke up and I took it outside and it fluttered over to my tree. My cat saw and attempted to jump in the tree, but I stopped her and put my cat inside the house. The owl was too injured to fly, so I got her out of the tree and put her in a box and dropped her off to some people my friend knew who did animal rehab.
I never saw any visible injuries, and the owl held onto my glove pretty tightly once I got it out of the tree. It ended up being at least a year old full grown female screech owl. It wasn't much bigger than my hand. My day was totally made after that. I like owls and never had got to handle one before. It is now in good hands.

Awe, cute story. Glad the owl is OK.

I love the story and the picture. If the owl doesn't make it, please lie to me. I really want to believe that my dog went off to be a search and rescue animal in the Swiss Alps like my Dad told me.

So, what is a good place to find intructions on how to build a free website?
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Re: Where the fuck does this go?
The low income thing pisses me off sometimes. All the internet sellers that don't declare their income, the trust fund babies getting supported by Mom and Pop, everybody in the service industry that makes more than I do and a myriad of other ways to finagle a low income ticket. When they get there they 'give back' to the community by having bars or parties, (Yes, this is a fact. Not something I made up.) I wish they would give back by buying a full price ticket and waiting in the queue like the rest of us. I always have felt this way so don't lay it off on me waiting in the STEP line.
Maybe low income should be replaced by worthy recipient. Personally, I wouldn't qualify so don't think this is about me. (Oh great. Now I've got that song in my head, 'You're so vain. You probably think this thread is about you'.) Anyway, an impartial panel of judges could pick the best of the bunch. 3 members of last years 1st place marching band. (Although I think it was a tie last year), some girls from the 24 hour diner from Canada that served the best Bloody Marys on the playa, 2 guys that put in long hours at the airport every day. There are tons of people that don't get directed group sales and are a colorful piece of the whole. I'm sure you can think of some. What allowance is made for them? Who can they appeal to if their brand of charity doesn't come with perks?
I'm sorry if I've offended anyone here. That isn't my intention. I know some burners are genuinely poor and couldn't attend without the small break given on their purchase. Some of them are really good people. If they want to work just 4 hours a day every day of the burn they can earn a half price ticket for next year. No mystery to it. I may be alone in thinking the low income tickets are as obsolete as the tiered priced tickets. But then again....

Ratty, I think you're absolutely right. Totally spot on. To go to Burning Man on the cheap is expensive as it is. If somebody is so poor that they need a "low income ticket" maybe they should think about getting their financial house in order before partying in the desert. This kind of follows under the heading that poor people making bad decisions on an on-going basis. Or something like that. YMMV

Re: Where the fuck does this go?
This is my feeling as well. In my mind, there should be some sort of 'gift' ticket (or, that is, more of them) given to people with a record of contributing to the city. Low-income / high-income -- Doesn't matter. Both equal. What matters instead of default world income is what you give back to the city. Fuck low income tickets.Dr. Pyro wrote:Ratty, I think you're absolutely right. Totally spot on. To go to Burning Man on the cheap is expensive as it is. Re: Where the fuck does this go?
I'm resisting the urge to start any new projects but....today I saw a game in my local 2nd hand store. It got me thinking. It is called Drinko. A small 8 by 10 upright board with nails driven into it. You drop a playing piece similar to a checker in the top and it bounces around to land in one of 6 shot glasses at the bottom. Huh? Anyway I visualized a big version with lots of slots on the bottom. You know. Show the world that you are a great singer, chug a beer, convince someone to give you a cherished possession, Enjoy a shot of Jose Cuervo, lay down and get 3 people to sit on you. Maybe next year.
