Selfie Sticks?

I read Coachella has banned them.
I like this idea. Mostly because it's always better to ask a stranger to take your picture, but also because I don't want to watch the Temple (or anything else) burn through a forest of bright glowing screens on sticks.
Has the Org discussed this?

It seems to me that a selfie stick would be good for talking pictures high over a crowd.

I expect to see them being used ironically as performance art, to such commonality that the irony aspect completely evaporates, depositing dorkhood fully upon the shoulders of the wielder.

Burning Man does not have a policy regarding selfie sticks.

IMO most events that have banned them have done so due to concerns about them being uses as weapons, not because of concerns over blocked views or excessive self-absorbed douchebaggery. I also personally feel like there is little reason to bring one to Burning Man, you can easily just talk to the person next to you and ask them to snap a picture of you and your friends, the odds of anyone dashing away with the camera are extremely low.

I think the selfie sticks would be a great way to observe what's happening on the other side of the alabaster walls surrounding PNP camps.

Burning Man allows all kinds of stuff that you would never, ever be allowed to bring into a commercial festival, concert venue, sporting event or nightclub.

And you'll get a better picture than you can with a selfie stick as a bonus!

Feh. I agree, asking someone to snap a pic is more participatory. Selfie sticks are narcissistic, so that's what's going out in the bullhorn.
My cardboard camera from last year is still in my car. I'm not a photographer. I'm too busy having immediate experiences.
