No, they are just 5050 LED strips. The balls are "glow in the dark" balls purchased at a sporting goods store. The table definitely requires overhead lighting as the LEDs are so bright. 2.0 will have an overhead section with lighting.FIGJAM wrote:Are those UV LEDs and are the balls treated with UV reactive paint???

I scored 2 TurboFlare 360º Emergency Lights on ebay. I have one but keep switching it from bike to net backpack. It's an amazing electric road flare. You can see it for a couple of miles. (At least that's the claim.) Runs all week, every time I go out at night, on 4 AAs.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Not all that super exciting and artful, but a big one for us. Got our storage container annual payment taken care of, woohoo for camp logistics fun! Buying the container (over $4k) was ridiculously spendy as an upfront cost, but now moving forward it's less than $1K per year to store and transport our camp's core infrastructure. Even with early bird discounts and coming from SF and all that, we figure it'll pay for itself in 3 years. For me it's not as much about the money, but not having to load a truck from a local storage joint before we head out, and then unload/repack it all at the end of the event. My future self will thank me.

Ordered another 120 lumen solar flood light for lighting my Art Car in our M-USED Car Lot. I also wrote to the other artists who will be displaying their Art Cars in the lot, and asked them all to purchase at least two of these to light their cars, that seems fair right?

It seems fair and reasonable that you'd want your campmates to help create the gallery space they'll be using to show off their creations.
We got our order placed today for the aluminet shade cloth we'll use on the new structure I'm building this year. Woohoo!

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I just got my ticket confirmation letter today. Next I will apply for my disability vehicle invitation, just like last year. I built myself a Fig-jam style cooler last weekend, but I got the wiring wrong. Probably a bad connection.( Fan has 4 wires, I am using the black and yellow. Is that correct? ) mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Maybe the battery is dead.
I got 2 of the 6 tires on the RV inflated...17 inches each, takes a while. I still need new batteries and a water pump. It is a 1971 GMC Superior Motor home. 28 feet of steel, not aluminum, it is like a tank and has similar milage. Fixing it up slowly, I might have to borrow a pickup like last year. I'll be hauling the Harley Buggy on the trailer.
Got my credit card down to 700 odd bucks.( Still paying for the false teeth I got 2 years ago.) Got new bi-focals also, paid cash. FICO is 814, pretty good rating. Typical geezer problems...

Submitted my theme camp application! First time doing it and yes, it was very involved, but it was so fun to fill out and I'm very excited. It'll be a long wait to find out if we get placed!

I bought some tarnished silverware last year with the intent of making some fancy mess kits. So finally this year I got around to doing it.

I got my bike back from my bike guy. Serviced and ready to ride. Cross that off my list. I finished sewing the 'potty friends' bags. It's really useful swag. It's a lightweight bag you can grab as you run to the John. It has an attached light, TP of course, zip lock bags, a couple of zip ties, fem. hygiene products, safety pins, carabiner and a potty friend dog tag attached. I only made a dozen because there aren't that many potty friends in my sector. I'll make a bunch of dog tags though.
Next big thing, carport cover and tents.

They were grimy. I'm surprised how well they shined up. $0.25 for each utensil. The cups were more.

Opened the burn tote for the first time since September. Glimpsed the huge mess through a cloud of dust and promptly shut the lid. Tote's back in the corner of the closet.

Schmancy munching kit there VC! Very pretty!
COUGH, COUGH, AAAACHOOO! BoyScoutGirl!
I'm stockpiling Revive vitamin water. It has over 800 mg potassium, much better than that nasty tasting Gatoraid. I ran out last year and had to borrow someone's Gatoraid...it made me feel urky!
My co-planner campmate inspired a group of our other campmates to donate to the M-Used Car lot lighting project. One of the guys works in electricity...so he's offered to take on the solar floodlight part of the project. WHAT A RELIEF to have help and support! YAY! Now I can focus on the design and fabrication of the posts themselves. I've been studying the images BoyScoutGirl sent me a few months ago. THANKS AGAIN!
I'm not truly gearing up until July 1 as I've got to focus on some other events until then. But then...OMG OMG OMG!!!

Nice one on the vitamin water, EmilyD, another pro-tip for electrolyte replenishment is to get electrolyte tablets. Make sure they're coated, because those suckers really have a nasty taste otherwise - but anytime you're feeling depleted take one with water and you'll be back in action in 15 minutes or so. My gf and I get a big bottle of them online (but you can probably find them at your pharmacy/healthy store of choice) for under $20 and invite our campmates to help themselves as needed too.

As for an item for today... I've been learning to juggle. I practice every day and am getting better. Come August, I think I'll have a respectable 3-ball cascade and perhaps a partner passing pattern or two ready to show off on-playa.

Stick with it Boyscoutgirl. I'm jealous. I vowed to brush up on my harmonica this year but haven't. I admire your sticktoitiveness.

Now that's a noble cause BoyScoutGirl! I'm impressed!
Trilo, Yes I always take those electrolyte capsules with me. My local health food store has some for not too $$. I take one each morning on Playa!

I love tarnish. But I'm a slut for patinas. And I don't know that I wouldn't shine up the silver if it got more tarnished. There's something a little visceral about eating food with tarnish. But maybe it kills germs...AntiM wrote:So fancy! Fancy pantsy! Love it!VultureChow wrote:I bought some tarnished silverware last year with the intent of making some fancy mess kits. Received necessary parts to assemble a 400 Watt black light fixture in the mail. With this much power, I plan to see if I can detect bodily fluids before they emerge.

Blacklight works. Almost burned my garage down with it. Need to build a very sturdy fixture to keep this beast at least a few inches from any surface.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Finished a mid-season budget review with my girlfriend. It's good to make sure we're on the same page on stuff, as well as have visibility on the expense of different bits and pieces that have yet to get done.
