Richard Gere's Ass Camp

Post by talking_sausage » Tue Nov 02, 2004 10:15 am

Yes Diode, it's like a nature documentary narrated by Allistair Cook. (Pour out some English Ale for the dead homies) "As the seasons change, so the eternal struggle of nature is renewed, and the cycle of life is again complete"

I too fear that my hamster visions may not reconcile with my financial, workspace, and logistical reality, but is it so wrong to have a dream? I am without hardcore compatriots, currently leaving me alone to realize this by myself. But I have hope that there might be some camp out there, that has the dome (colon) I search for. I dream that rather than having just another garden variety parachute dome next year, we will seredipitously connect via the interpornet, and my dream can become our Richard Gere Reality. Improving their camp, rather, our camp.

Or, I could just show up with my Richard Gere facade, go get some camp really drunk, and turn their dome into the colon in their moment of weakness.

One problem is that I am not really in the "gerbil scene", so I am not sure that I would really be able to create a realistic gerbil environment.

The other problem is that I am not really sure if I want to create a realistic gerbil environment. I am fairly certain that once I had my foolish and impetuos camp set up, based only on some urban legend I heard 12 years ago, that the real gerbilers would then show up directly. Once all 14 members of the West Virgina Rodentia Society show up, and want to use the dome to host Gerbilrama 2005 with the entire East Prussian Hamster Collective, I would be a bit out of my element. You know how it works out there... they will show up. You didn't think they existed, but you will meet 89 of them from countires all over the world. It will turn out that the entire block of 2:00 and Mars where I am situated is the gerbiler zone. You know I'm right.

I actually hesitated, for the real hardcore gerbilers out there. I mean, it's not really my thing, so when I set up this full on gerbil camp, I really dread that I will end up having to tell some dedicated hardcore rodentophile "Sorry, we are just a bunch of posers playing off some made up story, you will have to take your animals, tubes, candles, and declawers elsewhere." I experiment and explore new things on the playa, but I do not think I am ready to have my home camp be the 24/7 real-gerbil-deal. I would wake up only to find some drunk German guy with my flashlight up his ass. Now, generally I would be happy to gift the German guy an ass flashlight, but even on the playa, you need your personal space at camp.

No, I am being cowardly and bound by societal constraints, and I would kind of like to see that. Shut up! It's my camp, I can spectate if I want to

GERBIL ON!

Spectator camp...it's been done and done well by some yokels back in '01. Way fun, really fit my personal attitude at BM very well. Shout at the playazins, drink beer, rinse, repeat.

Hakim Bey applied to BRC! Gotta love that, Quasi...but so much for your element of surprise...

I'm cobbling together my equipment array, playlists and sample kit. I'm going to spin and mix up classical. Opera Camp will have opera music :) (with some Romantic, Baroque and Classical thrown in).

Autumn: Figure out the logistics.
Winter: Practice practice practice, get my chops up. Buy ticket.
Spring: Practice some more, start getting it all in one place. Some more Promenade activism.
Summer: Create decorations, costumes, toys, accoutrements.

Checked and noted :)

I was thinking Bach and Vaughan Williams for the sunrise session. Fauré — naaaahhhh, little too soft. Put people back to sleep.

Brainstormed a righteous "Dies Irae" five-way fugue the other night and I got a whole "Storm" concept set for when the winds kick up. Starts with Vivaldi, of course.

Anybody want to get me anything for the Holidaze and/or my birthday in January can swing me a gift certificate to the Musik Factory in Eugene :)

I'm brainstorming with my Larry about Anti M's Home for Wayward Art. The idea springs from my gift rack and a desire to display and/or give away art. A couple interlocking or overlapping wooden cubes made from 2x4s with art attached, possibly a couple wooden walls and shelves in the interior; a way to attach art securely (hah!) and simple signage encouraging folks to adopt a piece and take it home. Perhaps a treasure chest to hold smaller pieces and little gifts. I'd ask others to contribute pieces too, as a artist my talents run towards crafts rather than fine art, although I'm perfectly willing to hang my Bad Art and my miniature paintings. The whole thing would sit next to or in front of our camp.

It may not be original, but I like the concept. Any feedback?

I don't recognize the difference between "craft" and "fine art." (Or rather, Ithink it's a "white man" designation to devalue the "useful and beautiful" and the lives of people who have to work hard as well as enjoy life as opposed to those few who are in certain Western traditions and have leisure.

Happy to donate what I've got, if I have it.

The wayward gallery will debut at Synorgy most likely, give it a trial run. Being in Utah, I could dub it Art Barn or Art Corral, how utterly obnoxious...

I agree, craft and fine art shouldn't necessarily be opposite ends of a spectrum. My miniatures are ridiculously meticulous and detailed, few people get it that a tiny thing can actually take more hours to create than a full sized project, and that tiny in no way always equates toy.

I have a bunch of mini plastic bikes and a vision of a small scale quarter Center Camp or chunk of Esplanade, perhaps a simple camp, think model railroad layout thingy. Very bulky to transport, but I know darn well I'd have a blast making it. We'll see how my energy and motivation levels hold out ...
