Im hoping I can attend this year I got a late start on the idea> Ive created my profile registerd for step and went to the website and signed up for closest regional group to my home. Should I go ahead and buy a plane ticket? I do not have a ticket to get in gate yet. Ive been collecting gear and costumes I dont mind helping out and have basic survival skills. Single parent of three wonderfull daughters and just feel drawn to t the desret to unwind and reflect on life...... Hopefully this works out!!!!!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
You might want to post in the Tickets Wanted thread on this forum also.

Welcome Jeffery, This is a great place to start. You might be too late for this year. You might be right on time. I would buy a ticket and make alternate plans just in case no ticket appears. Good luck.

Welcome.
Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

Welcome and I pass well wishes and good luck in your general direction....E SE......here it comes......prepare yourself......
to buy or not to buy, that is the question.....
As you can see by reading thru eplaya, the most concerning variable is the vehicle pass situation. With that added unknown, and not personally knowing the strength of your local Regional population its really difficult to provide an opinion. On my coast there are very active regional networks, so in the past years I've been able to find tickets on the open market pretty easily. But as they say, personal experience may vary.
I say to plan like you're going on every level. Buying a plane ticket now may seem premature, but what is the cost savings of an early purchase vs. fully refundable vs. waiting until summer vs. total loss if you can't find a ticket?

Re: Ive never been to burning man and am trying to go.
If I decided late in the year that I wanted to go and didn't have a ticket, I'd plan to get myself to Reno, making sure i had a vehicle lined up (which may mean that you'll have to fly somewhere else and rent a car there to drive to Reno), bringing all of my camping supplies with me or shipping them ahead. I'd sign up ASAP for all the lists and pass the word around that I needed a ticket and a vehicle pass, and i'd keep posting to them even past the start of the event. If the universe didn't provide entry by late August, I'd get to Reno as long before Burning Man as feasible, try to to stay at the Burner Hotel ( http://members.morrisburnerhotel.com/ some background here: http://www.kolotv.com/home/headlines/Re ... 90101.html ), and use social media at every step of the way to let people know where I was and that I was still looking.
Once in Reno, you can often find tickets on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday by hitting up Burners shopping at the big supermarkets (Safeway on Keystone, Trader Joe's and Whole Food's especially -- and by "hitting up" I mean making a sign and hanging out politely near the entrances. Info on supermarkets here: http://burningman.org/event/preparation ... groceries/). People who have extras for whatever reason often take them along, especially if a friend dropped out at the last minute.
If it should transpire that by Monday afternoon I hadn't scored a ticket and pass, I would plan on spending my vacation in Reno or Fernley or somewhere else in the area. If you want to go camping, try Pyramid Lake near Nixon. Or hang out at the Burner Hotel or the Grand Sierra or Boomtown. There will be Burners passing through these places and coming back afterwards, and you'll meet them, and if you persevere, maybe you'll get to go for just the last few days, but even if all else fails, there are afterparties in Reno, and, who knows, maybe you'll meet your 2016 campmates.
Either way, you'll have an adventure.

Re: Ive never been to burning man and am trying to go.
Another way to try and score a ticket without going thru the regular channels (this presumes you have your own transportation) is to get to the Rest Area at Boreal Ridge (CA exit 176) with a Burning Man sign. That's where a lot of burners, including yours truly, stop to piss or stretch. It's about half-way between the Bay Area and Wadsworth, an hour beyond Auburn/Newcastle. I had an extra ticket my first year and had it sold in nothing flat to a burner like I just described. On the weekend the place is lousy with burners. Good luck and if you make it to the playa, be sure to stop by the ePlaya Meet & Greet 6 p.m. Wednesday at Barbie Death Camp & Wine Bistro. Bring absinthe.

Oh great Yiggy. Now 'I know Doc Pyro' will replace 'Wall Drug' in popularity.
If you said get it tattooed on your butt cheeks someone would ask, "What font".
