I thought I posted this, but maybe not....
Here is a snapshot of the general type of shift lever I was talking about, seen from the rider's perspective. The exact style does not matter, but more metal construction is always better than plastic. This is nothing important, but I grab these when I can.

It's shorter than I expected...
(That's what she said)

That's an extreme crank-forward. (more moderate bikes from RANS)
Great for getting your feet onto the ground when starting/stopping, and for climbing or motoring, pushing with your feet while you pull on the bars (instead of standing as with normal geometry). I love the feel of riding a RANS Fusion ST.

The RANS has the proportions, but it just looks goofy!
Mine is an old Dyno Roadster, no longer made but you can get a cheapy Micargi copy that's pretty close. You can find original Dynos in Southern California now and then, that's where most of them were sold.

I was going to say he already has the loveliest lady on Playa with him wherever he goes, and they live in a camper, not in a tent like dirty hippies. But I will just mention...

...Nor we you, Cap'n.

In slightly more relevant news.... Yesterday I tore into Millicent to replace hoses and belt, and repair the accelerator linkage, and whatnot else while I am in there. The relevance is that she will be that much more reliable for the trek to BRC this year.

And finally.... I will be at Maker Faire in San Mateo the whole weekend of May 15-17, with Pear County Chopper on display and Steamroller in the Death-Defying Figure-8 Race competition. Look for me in the PSI Makers exhibit with several other Burners from the Sacramento area, and in the Figure-8 Race arena with the Whisky Drome club from the Santa Rosa area. The Whisky Drome should be easy to spot.

Unjon, that sounds like the "neutral safety switch" in the most common parlance. Try moving the shifter a little, and it may make contact. Also try starting in Neutral. Generally, it should start in both Park and Neutral.

Off just a little.
I like the lowered for their practicality and comfort.
Just gotta watch out for bottoming out off road. :)

The switch is no by the shift selector.. There are two switches off the brake peddle.. The wirering on this rig is a night mare to behold.. The VW will be running today.. Just have to study the motor home..

On some vehicles you have to step on the brake pedal to crank the engine. So one of those switches might be for that purpose. The other might be for the stop light. PM or e-mail me if you want to continue this dialog.

Well, here's the cruiser as of this afternoon. It's wearing blackwalls and has a 5-speed drum brake rear hub and my custom shifter. And an LED-converted headlight.

Ok folks! You've been given notice! For my camp family and eplayan alike. I'm having my 3rd Annual Taco Tuesday this year and would love to see your happy shiny faces! This year our menu consists of:

Shredded beef tacos served with grilled corn tortillas
Seasoned black beans
Rice
and all the fixin's

This year there'll be margaritas! I'll be looking for help serving this year too! Any volunteers, hit me up! It's a bring your own utensils and cup! Less moop for all!

If you'd like to come enjoy good food, great people and have a cold margarita, let me know! (It helps with buying the grub!)
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

You're putting up my favorite food AND my favorite drink! I'll try to be there - but of course you know how the playa is!
The M&G and the Burn are the only two hard scheduled items all week when I go to BRC and it's hard to keep even that schedule.
But tacos AND margaritas... it doesn't get better than that...
Will it be evening?

I'll add this: Taco Tuesday is not a public event. It's a private party! I'm getting so excited! :D

:D :D :D
Heads up!

Big news.

We have been asked to accept placement in the 4:30 Plaza, and I replied Yes.

This is both an honor and a challenge. We will have to step up our game considerably.

We will need more Technicians.

We will need more $$$ for parts. Suddenly I’m thinking Kickstarter or some such, but I don’t know what we could offer as tokens-of-appreciation.

We will need to organize for efficiency. I’m thinking Triage will be vital, with some Technicians doing flat tires only.

(Perhaps it is not entirely appropriate to post on ePlaya about an “internal communication” between our camp and the Burning Man Placement Team, but we need to prepare, and we are sort’a ePlaya-centric.)

Of course, this also improves the potential for our secondary activities.

Input invited.

Elliott have a kickstarter with NO tokens. I'll contribute. I don't take the swag into consideration when I'm donating. I don't even accept it. God knows we don't need more stuff. Less is more.
