I'm sure all of you are, to an extent, but I'm looking for the legit Haight and Ashbury of BRC.

I'm a virgin and this summer will be me and my friends first burn, and we just want to be surrounded by like-minded individuals. Like minded individuals that enjoy the truly psychedelic things in life

Make it a point to check-in with the DanceSafe LEOs near Centercamp. They do on-the-spot quality checks of most illegal drugs. They will let you know if any of your stash is adulterated with "bad stuff".

Their corr goal is harm reduction and education. Good folks. They have satellite offices in Pershing County if you need a place to sleep something off, and they provide free transportation. They also have a free lawyer referral service (public defenders office) if you need it.

If you are too fucked-up to find them, flag-down any BLM or law enforcement officer for help.

Keep your ears peeled for hand drumming circles, but you need not hurry to bike or walk to them: they will be there for hours endlessly playing a 5 beat or 3 beat repetition with most of the circle not even listening to anyone who might have rhythm.

Actually Simon is exaggerating, there was a very clueless female festival hippie that was going to bring a baby or was late stage pregnant as well as being unprepared. Wish I could find that thread!

We expect law enforcement to monitor ePlaya and they work on the playa and the roads to and from to collect the "stupid tax". ePlaya is part of the Burning Man corporation and therefore cannot encourage any illegal behavior.

If you meet your regional in person, and you are an undercover LEO, and you harsh their mellow, they might just roast you (metaphorically).

It may surprise you to know that BRC isn't segregated, you'll find people of all walks of life all over the city.

Funny you should mention it. I sold a bunch of my stuff at the flea yesterday. Including my 2 old roach clips and a small rolling machine. I kept the peace buttons and American flags. Oh, I'm still a hippie. I'm just not as hip.

I'm not sure if you've been to Haight-Ashbury recently, but there isn't a hippie to be found. It's chain stores, wrecked "punk" trash (that haven't gotten the memo that punk came out at the same time as disco & their look is as stagnant & dated as bell-bottoms), and wanna-be wrecked trash that actually has mommy & daddy over in the east bay if things ever get too bad. I am most certainly not looking for anything like the Haight, past or present.

The closest you'll come to the "legit Haight and Ashbury" is Center Camp Cafe, where there is endless bad poetry, people doing yoga, bad singers, bad bands, and strung out people passed out on couches, with a pseudo-Starbucks serving coffee. This, sadly, is not a snarky comment, but my honest feelings on the cafe. (YMMV)

The Haight wasn't even the legit Haight by the time I hit it in the 70s.

Disappointment abounds.

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Five years later? Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era—the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run . . . but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant. . . .

Spot on about the Haight. I have friends that come in and they always want to see it, as if "the Summer of Love" still exists. So I give them a flower, play Scott Mackenzie's "If You're Goin' to San Francisco" and head for Berkeley.
