The music world has lost one of the greats: B.B. King.

B.B. King, the last of the Southern-born blues musicians who defined modern electric blues in the 1950s and would influence scores of rock and blues guitarists, has died. He was 89.

The Mississippi-born guitarist, who had suffered from Type II diabetes for two decades, died peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 p.m. PDT Thursday at his home in Las Vegas.

Had several opportunities to see him when he'd come to Reno, but never did.
Love that music.

Same here MSJ. It doesn't look good for me making it to TTITD again this year. I'm registered in STEP and no offers so OMG will be my last resort.
If your travels to the playa this year take you through Fernley, which they should, pm me, maybe we can meet for breakfast at the Wigwam :D
I would like to do the same with Rhino

Indeed Fuck Cancer!

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. My thoughts are with you.

I have a dear friend battling for her life with a second round of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This time it is terminal - she is a fighter! but even she's having a celebration of life party in June before she leaves this earth; she thinks before Christmas.

Cancer is indeed a fucking beast that can totally fuck off.

John F. Nash Jr., a mathematician who shared a Nobel Prize in 1994 for work that greatly extended the reach and power of modern economic theory and whose decades-long descent into severe mental illness and eventual recovery were the subject of a book and a 2001 film, both titled “A Beautiful Mind,”

My long time friend John "The Pimp" Elliott. Died of complications from Diamond Blackfan Anemia. He posted on Facepalm that he wasn't doing well, and that he wasn't sure how much longer he was going to be around. Two days later he was gone.

We called him "pimp" because back in our twenties, he was dating a pretty hot girl. One of us mentioned if she had a sister, in the usual joking manner that twenty year old guys have. Well, wouldn't you know it, he procured a gal for that friend. (we never found out if she was actually his gf's sister). Next thing we knew, he was fixing up guys left and right. Pretty soon, he discovered that certain types of girls were willing to do certain things for financial gain. So he rented out his apartment for these activities. Soon, he rented another apartment in his complex for this same thing. And another. And another. Before long, he had about 15 apartments rented out. As you can imagine, he was making some pretty good cash "managing" these ladies, and providing a safe place for all to enjoy. He then hired another friend to help run the business. It was a pretty amazing racket be had going.

Well, all good things must come to an end, and so did his foray into adult entertainment. We aren't sure how exactly he got popped, but the only real surprise was how long he kept it going. He ended up doing a couple years on a pandering charge, but he was so well liked by the girls and customers, that he always had lots of money on his books. Once, a group of girls visited him while he was locked up. Man, even the guards were envious! When he got out, a well known adult video company hired him as a recruiter. Apparently, word got out about him.....

He was smart about money, and lived off his income for years after, even paying income tax on it! They tried to get him on tax evasion, but he set himself up as an LLC, and was totally legit.

So Pimp, I raise a glass to you. The stories we shared, the bullshit we told, the fun we had. If there is a heaven, Im sure your up there running your game. I miss you dude. This stuffy town ain't the same without you.

Godspeed buddy....

Sad news today. Donald Featherstone, the inventor of the tacky lawn ornamental Pink Flamingos passed away.
The factory that made these iconic creations closed in 2006. Prior to the closing, I made the trek there to buy up as much inventory as I could stuff in my car. I am proud to say that I got the personal set of flamingos from the president's office.

Rest in peace Donald Featherstone.
