Yeah,I'm not sure how much water it would take.I'm sure the evaporation would be really quick out there with the wind and low humidity.However those are perfect conditions for this cooling system as well.In the old days when they came up with this they had a limited choice of building materials so they used steel but I'd bet the cooling would work even better with thin aluminum.Anyway,I'm not sure it has any application out there on the playa but it's an interesting concept.

Given how much drier it is on the playa than most other places, I imagine you'd get better cooling than 10 degrees. Who knows... You might get 15!

15 would be great.
I've got a big swamp cooler on my house and it cools it down about 20*F if the humidity is low.Yesterday the high was 103*F outside but inside it never got over 85*F.

I too have a big swamp cooler on top of the house. 90 outside, around 70ish inside. I think we were about 30% humidity that day.
