I know, right? :D

My two cents for anyone thinking of braving a pee bottle/funnel: I've tried the Freshette (great, but inexcusably expensive) & the Go Girl (squishy; more difficult to use). YMMV.

I have settled upon a $3 automotive funnel with oval opening + 100 oz. detergent bottle as my all-time favorites.

Try them at home in the shower in order to get the hang of it the first 1-2 times, and rip off your TP before you begin. :D

Great timesavers on the playa.

So what's the pee jug etiquette when you're camping with your boyfriend?

* You should each have your own bottle.
* You will want to agree to each empty your own bottles once a day (crucial).
* If either of you has a shy bladder, respectfully turn away.

His and her's pee jugs. Sounds like a fun craft project.

Maybe there's a way to set up camp with a semi private space in between tent and car so I don't have to pee in the tent, but don't have to pee in public.

Pee is a bonding agent. You may get over your shyness quickly if you're stuck in your tent.

I keep meaning to ask Robbi dobbs...Does USS ever lock up the potties. If it's raining they can't drive around and empty them.

5 gallon bucket and a snap on toilet seat is what I use anymore. I tried for several years to pee funnel into a jug, but it was never a zero miss experience. YMMV.

Consider the weight in your pee transport to the portos. We transfered individual pee bottles to spent 5G water jugs which we transferred. Hope the people we rented them from cleaned them after... Pee is sterile for almost all people (but it does contain excreted pharmaceuticals). Don't fear the pee, water runs downhill. Personally, from a science standpoint, I think peeing on he playa should be legal. Did I say legalize pee? Yes!

Wide mouth 32 oz Rubbermaid water bottle with a thick band of black Gorilla tape around the middle for quick visual and tactile identification (I have similar bottles for non-micturative use) and to prevent slippage from sweaty hands.

the detergent bottle is nice because it doesn't look anything like a beverage container, it's opaque, and it's got a handle. i saved a woolite dark bottle and i'm making a few pee funnels Pee Funnel Camp style.

5 gallon bucket for the win. No misses, whether standing (me) or squatting (her), it's big enough for two and easy to carry to the potties.

I use the automotive funnel too. I swear they are made to fit a woman. And an empty lemonade jug. But I like the idea of the detergent bottle and it not being clear.

The Stallion usually empties ours, I've only had to empty three times in the years we have gone. Every single time so guy yells "hey! nice pee bottle" as I ride by.

Depending where you ladies buy this, they are under a dollar and seem to be made for peeing. Most automotive departments have these. You may even consider using this in the porto potties, so you can stand in a manish fashion and use the guy urinal. There's even a hole in it, so you can hang it from your belt.

I swear by the large liquid laundry detergent and softer bottles. The are large and sturdy, have screw on tops, and are not clear, so I can stay classy while walking my jug of pee to the porta-potties every morning. I mark them with a skull and crossbones, write poison on it...

Any good deep playa bottles for ladies?

My first year we (the lady and me) found an ultra-super-crazy-large wide-mouth bottle from a major brand that worked for the lady so she could pee without going to the portos while in deep playa. She has a long coat and would cover herself around, put the ultra wide mouth where it needed to be and did her thing into the bottle. Screw the cap back on and we don't leave a wet spot for anybody else to step in accidentally, no need for a trip to the portos, and, most importantly, Leave No Trace. We of course threw out the bottle at the end of the event which I'm kicking myself for now because I can't find another one with as big of a mouth! I mean, this thing was nearly a coffee can wide! No funnel needed!

And speaking of funnels, I'd hate to have to deal with a pee funnel while out there. That just seems like there's too many moving parts and you'd just be asking for trouble...

Regarding the "walk of shame" some have mentioned, hell with it!! Own it and hold your head up high, and dump your pee. If someone makes fun of you, maybe they need a 3 day old 'golden shower' to teach them a lesson...
In the morning I sometimes go out cruising to give people a lift on my bicycle chariot. I look for people walking with purpose towards the distant portos and people lugging their jug, stopping next to them and offering a ride. I always -ALWAYS- ask first "So, where are you going?"

Have I mentioned that all of these soap and clothes softener bottles are available for FREE at your local laundromat? The corner Wash-N-Dry has the cleanest indoor trash cans that you can imagine. It's like Jr. Dumpster diving. Lots of people, (myself included) put the lids on the containers before they are discarded. This is a great Saturday afternoon activity. "Hunnie. I'll be right back.I'm gonna run down to La Lavandería and look for pee bottles." Happy hunting.

75 or 100 oz even, just in case you share in an emergency, or are very, very hydrated.

I had a short stay in the hospital and they have actual pee bottles for the patients that I used. I took mine home thinking to use it when I go to the Burn. It's light because it's made of plastic like a milk jug, it has a lid and a handle. You guys think this is a good idea or should I do something like a gatorade bottle like a lot of people here suggest?

If the hospital one has a screw on lid it's ok. This is a deal breaker. Everything spills, falls and blows around out there.

A splash of campo chem used in rv toliet can be added to bottle to keep odor down. Empty everyday. Otherwise piss smells worse than piss. Take a small liquid tide bottle, pull the spout out with plyers.
Ive also seen large plastic coffee container with kitty litter used. Might work for emergency poopy
