2 looking to participate in a theme camp

Post by japerry » Tue Jun 09, 2015 11:04 pm

My partner and I are excited to make it to our first burn! We love going on excursions in our camper and are excited to be able to attend Burning Man this year. While our setup is fairly self-contained, we’ve been thinking it would be more fun to join up with a group that we can help out.

About us: TL;DR: We’re geeks. Dr. Who, Steampunk, Star Wars, Linux, Open Source, Top Gear -- you name it. We both love tinkering with things, playing with technology and radio (we're both ham operators), my partner used to work as a welder, and I enjoy fixing vehicles, bikes, and other mechanized things.

Things we were thinking of contributing:
We recently acquired a commercial soft drink bar set (wunderbar), with 8 to 16 different taps -- and we're thinking this would be a great MOOP free addition for those who may not like to drink alcohol, or for those who do, and want to add an extra something to their drink! We are also bringing down our truck which has a camper on it (not an RV; it’s about 22ft long) — it has an outdoor shower, 60 gallons water, onboard generator, and awning. We also have a flatbed trailer (both an 18’ and a 27’) that we could bring down if it’s useful (although we'd need to put something on it, they don't travel well empty). My partner would love to weld, or bring tea -- she makes a bunch of custom blends.

Regardless of theme, we’re looking for a place that has a communal kitchen, has a nice shady hangout area, is not too loud, and is relatively smoke free. A smaller camp (under 75 people) with a chill atmosphere would be nice.

We're planning on arriving Tuesday evening and leaving Monday.

After pouring over the camps posted on ePlaya and /r/burningman, we have found some camps from previous years, but not as many from this year that seem to have open space. We're in the Portland area, but the pre-planning location doesn't matter to us, if it doesn't matter to you :-) Ideas?

Cheers!
Emi & Jakob

Lol "not an RV"... perhaps you're confused about what an RV is!
Anyway, that's what I use, they are terrific RVs for the playa!
I also pull a flatbed. I say bring it, it can carry extra water, barrels to dump your waste water into, shade structure materials, tools, bikes, a BBQ grill, there's all sorts of stuff that's great to have.

thanks! heh trying to be clear that its not a Class C, A or 5th wheel, but yah its an RV on a truck, so its a bit shorter-- since I've seen space limits coming up on camp threads. Its also why I'd only bring a trailer if the camp wants it. It takes up quite a bit of space in camp, so it'd be awesome to put it to some good use once its there! :)

Please note: if you are serving from this to anybody from outside of your camp, you need to get a temporary food permit from Nevada.
