Arborealis Forest, Airpusher and Icarus are teamed up for an event at Public Works in San Francisco, Friday June 19th, 2015, from 9pm – 3am.
Headlining our event are some amazing DJs including:
DJ Dan
Slynk
CPTN Jay and Djesika of Airpusher
Atish and Mark Slee (tag set)
Menno
MOSF3T
You will also get a sneak peak of the projects that we are bringing out to the playa this year.
This event is a fundraiser for three massive projects that need your help:
Arborealis —> a multi-sensory experience consisting of artistically sculptured trees placed in a circle to evoke the feeling of being in a forest, in the middle of any environment. In the daytime, participants can lounge in hammocks, and seek refuge underneath the forest canopy. Sunbeams play and shadows create a dappled and mystical backdrop while music interacts with your every move.

Airpusher —> Once upon a time, a group of friends dreamed of flying across the desert in a beautiful airship filled with new friends and old, to destinations unknown. With a new 40-foot inflatable balloon to carry her, the Airpusher Steampunk Airship will bring a smile to your face and music to your ears.

Icarus —> A moving sculpture, a roaming art gallery and music stage all in one massive vehicle. Think Firefly, Elysium and Alien meets Studio 54. Its 30,000lbs of roaming party. She‘s a traveled ship that has seen her share of battles, black holes and generations of crews who flew way too close to many suns. Sure, she’s beat up but she can still make the Kessel run in 12 Parsecs!

Thank you for the kind words Trilobyte. I believe that we have amazingly awesome projects as well. All of them are already in progress, and the fundraiser will allow us to keep going on them and transport them out to the playa for everyone to enjoy.
The sound aspect of Arborealis is really cool (note: We are different from another project called Arborealis that came to the playa a few years back, in fact, we didn't even realize that they existed until a team meeting a few months ago. We chalk it up to collective burner consciousness!). Our tech team has devised a way to make cameras capture the movement of people near the sculptures, and translate their movements into controlling a digital instrument (created by our sound team) that plays thru the sound system that is integrated into our sculpture (17' tall tress trees that can be climbed and sat in, and rocks that people can sit on).
Essentially, one person, or even a crowd, can play an ambient, electronic instrument by using the movement of their bodies. All while others are sitting in hammocks that are part of the trees.
I'm bummed that you can't make it, but I hope you have fun with your plans, and please come by and check us out on the playa this year.
