maybe you don't know the bartenders? the strength of the drinks seems to be directly related to your association with whoever's serving. though i don't know that it's on purpose.
Sensei, where are you? i figured it all out: Lydia, your 'treetop lover' is the one you really want. you just think you want me and GE because you have a thing for Jing. Bu it's ok, cause we can cause trouble all over town just the two of us.
BTW Lydia. You DO taste good. (Anyone who gets a chance needs to have a taste of this girl's neck.)
BHA, we're going to have to kidnap you here. they you won't wanna puke. Sam, drive your ass up. No excuses.
Oh, and what was it GE related the two of us to? A tilt a whirl? You don't know if it's fun or it makes you sick?
yay, making mutant toys! we're gonna freak some kids out with our creations.

R-Jack, don't think I haven't been scouring the Seattle Visitors and Convention schedule for an excuse, any excuse, to fly out there. The next thing coming up is the National Flower Growers Association annual pollen-swap, but I don't think bookeeping will go for that. I'll keep looking, and by the way, I love to read about the LL and you know it.
Buckethead, Buckethead you are like an Alien
Buckethead, Buckethead your head is like a dish
Buckethead, Buckethead sometimes you wear the Maybelline
Buckethead, Buckethead sometimes you're full of fish

Well, uh, perhaps most important would be my five-month-old daughter. She's a tough one to negotiate with. But I don't see why not some time between now and August something just might happen.Rian Jackson wrote:that's what i thought.
so who are you justifying to?

BHA, you were SORELY missed last night, and we talked, on many occaisions, about how to get your sorry (but Oh So Cute) ass up here... you were in all our thoughts last night...
Lydia, lovely, you DO taste good. How's yer back feelin'?
Rian, you hot bitch, that skirt was killer.
And yes, really, it's just a bar. It's cold, dirty, and full of people drinking alcohol. But there's an energy current that runs through the fuckin' place... it's DEFINITELY the people... that makes it an amazing place to be, even if you're just sitting back and watching everything take place.

Well, Moisture Pup's ecstatic posting drowned stuff out. I haven't had a chance to read them today, but I'm thinking about giving them a bump. I don't know that it's fizzled - I don't think Jim Mason will listen to any dissenters.
I sent him a very friendly PM thanking him for starting the discussion on this level, reiterating that the best of the discussion is probably here online, and giving him a few pointers (such as having some respect for the posters and the discussion) which will help him to be taken seriously on these boards. So far I have received no response.
I think it's sad the way he's comported himself. It makes it very hard for me to take him seriously, especially when he's talking about managing things himself (PART of the time). The man seems to have no respect. But i would guess he feels backed into a wall.
What do you think about all of this?

i concur with bob's last post on the subject.
But I've yet to see a justification for any kind of direct funding out of the ticket money, given that it's supposed to be a DIY, self-reliant, self-expressive, participant-not-spectator event, and much of the art produced by funding is crap that requires tons of hand-holding by the SF office and DPW.

It appeared to me that Moisture Pup was intentionally trying to bury the petition thread.
I'm really kind of mixed about it, I have a hard time thinking it's a good idea to put those receiving grants in charge of the process. I also kind of consider Burning man to be rather a chaotic semi-orchestrated work of art, with Larry as the conductor. Seeing it this way it also doesn't make sense to put the precision section in charge because of lack of overall objectivity.
There are however good points Jim has made, but there isn't a good workable solution put on the table yet. I was terribly put off by the " do what we want or we'll take our toys and go home " attitude of the petition.

ca't say i'd wanna go after the way he's acted.Zulegoona wrote:I'll have what Joels having, I know nothing about scotch....
Somebody on SF tribe speculated that Jim was positioning things to make a splash with a new event he would set up in California someplace on privet land. But I don't know how seriously to take that.
