I don't know. It's 12:55 AM here right now, let's see what time it says when I post this.

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

I got my carport. It was a political minefield with a local charity. But I got it. Hey they let it rot there for years. someone might as well take it down and use it before the recyclers get it. I'm excited. Now to put it up, buy tarps, test straps.....AntiM it's just like yours.

Congrats. Those are heavy carports.
Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I'm only using 2 sections of it and in clamshell style so it's not too heavy. I restocked my first-aid kit. Check that off the list. Oh crap. It wasn't on the list.

When that happens to me I go ahead and write it down on my list anyway, and then immediately put a checkmark in the little box next to the item. Very cathartic!Ratty wrote:..Check that off the list. Oh crap. It wasn't on the list.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Some mail-order stuff was dropped off yesterday; a surplus gas mask, a water pump, a FM repeater gizmo to plug into the car lighter plug to rebroadcast MP3 music ( and other FM signal ) a whopping 300 feet.
I put into the mask my framed spectacles I have kept from the Army in 76, work better than before. I am ready for the white outs, and I will sleep better without a dry throat.
I ordered some other electronics, but they will not arrive until after the Fourth. a FM headset and mike, a pinhole video camera with remote receiver, some Bluetooth and wireless plugs, and a digital to analog TV receiver. A ferrocerium (sp) rod is ordered for fire starting. A DC voltmeter to monitor battery strength. A photocell switch to turn stuff on at night. A 50000 mAh solar charging external battery to charge devices and batteries. I have a couple cell phones and a tablet computer for various tasks. My 4 panels only put out about 60 Amps @ 12-14 volts, my inverter pumps up the voltage from my battery bank to 120 +- volts. I probably need to scrounge up some storage batteries, my golfcart ones are getting old. I paid over $700 for 6 brand new six volt deep cycle ones the last time. That shit is heavy too!

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
Found a gold Chinese silk purse for $4 or $5 at the thrift store the other day--about a foot square, with short shoulder straps. It's just the right size for camping t.p., a baby wipe packet, baggies for used wipes (PACK YOUR WIPES OUT, VIRGINS!), possibly a lavage bottle (BayBridgeSue turned me on to those portable bidet bottles) and a clip light.
. . . BIFFY BAG, yay!
I recommend them for anyone. It's so nice to be able to keep all your bathroom essentials in a pretty little go-bag. A handstrap or shoulder strap is ideal (for attaching a clip light--and so you don't have to set it down in the porto!)
You can pop a Biffy Bag into your Bag of Wandering before a journey, and then pop it out when you're at the portos and take your biffy bag with you, and hand your backpack to a friend. (Wielding a big bag in the portos is no fun.)
Thrift stores are perfect for biffy bags of any description, but a shaving kit-bag or a small army surplus bag would also work, as might a homemade drawstring bag.

Biffy BAG! YES. I didn't know their name but that is what I made for my 'Potty Friends' that will be hosting extra TP at their camps. I made the bags from old cargo pants. They have attached lights and can be worn around your neck in the JOTS. Besides carrying your extra TP they have a large zip-tie, zip-lock bags for wipes and feminine products, a sharpie for witty graffiti, 2 safety pins and an emergency hand sanitizer. It also has a brass dog-tag "Potty Friend 2015". Useful swag for camps in the line of sight of the porta potty doors.

My first biffy bag was also a gift, some years back. A nice lady gave me a simple little bag made of Looney Tunes printed fabric, strung on some long, thick cotton cord, and I used it all week. Still have it.
And yes, the sanitizer! Those sanitizer units at the end of the potty banks are wonderful, but sometimes they run out, and really, I just like to have my own.
Every time I see sanitizer bottles on caribeener clips at the drugstore, I buy them! They're usually a dollar and have hilarious labeling . . . Hannah Montana sanitizer was a favorite.
I bring 3 pump sanitizers with which to refill. One goes on the dining table, the other in the tent, a third in the first aid kit. (On the way down to the desert, one of those pumps sits in the car.)

It's loads of fun making bags. They have drawstrings, shoulder straps, pockets, zippers, belt loops and odd hardware. Lovin them as gifts.

I found water resistant fabric on ebay in bright colors for about two dollars a yard if anyone wants to waterproof their tent or anything else for that matter.

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I've had a super good couple of days!
- Went to the East Bay Burners Playa Art Sneak Peek and heard about a bunch of cool art coming to the playa this year
- Volunteered to make a target for The Last Flametrhower
- Had a chat to Jazz, the temple designer, about the AMA he's going to do over on Reddit
- Met Torrey from Sextant camp who is absolutely lovely.
- Moved a bunch of burn stuff out of the apartment and into our new storage space in the building's bike room. Including the camp's new love sack which was an awesome score.
- I sent a big email update out to all our campmates. In it I spruiked Elliot's Indigogo campaign and thus got at least two of my campmate's a great deal on a playa bike rental.
- I paid our fees for our shipping container. I am SO EXCITED that we now own a shipping container. Such a great infrastructure investment for the camp!
- I had dinner with the campmate who is looking after our camp dinners this year and nutted out the plan for that. Dinner was super yummy
And now I'm going to bed because it's 3:30am and I have welding to do tomorrow

Spent the weekend patching up the ArtCar and painting faded, peeling paint on the giant hair rollers up on the roof. It's been cold and foggy for weeks and weeks here, terrible painting weather but still, not as bad as our poor Texas friends. SHEESH!

Re: 2015 one item a day for BM list..
I got my Canon 1d Mark 2 in the mail over the weekend. It is an old weather sealed 8mp tank of a camera that can handle anything. It will take a while to fully figure out, but at least my 50mm lens fits it at the moment. I don't plan on spending way too much time with it, but figure I will want to have it with me a couple days riding around.
I brewed 15 gallons of beer over the past week, 10 gallons of an all citra saison, and 5 of a modified Pliny Double IPA clone. One more batch to brew for lemon lime hefeweizen.
I checked out the Deep Cycle batteries at Costco which are about $80 each. Much cheaper than replacing my old Optima. Also, the Contigo water bottles at Costco keep ice cold for 18 hours. I frequently drink all the water and it is just full of ice which takes forever to melt. I figure on the playa, I may store it in my bag and have ice cold water once my camelback runs out until I can get a refill.
Still been hitting up the 50 cent thriftstore every Tuesday, have made a few outfits with the stuff I found. Got a nice tailed tux coat if I want to look good one night. Need to find a shirt for it next.
Must get started on hexayurt in the next week or so and get panels and tape, otherwise will just get the flex bow tent if that falls through.

Vodka, and 2.5 gallon ziplock bags.
Not for use together.
Unless it seems like a really good idea at the time.

Lightweight solar lamps and posts are in progress. Photos when they're finished. I just sent out our camp layout and so far everyone's liking it (whew) and, we got the placement we requested. I'm picking up a package from Ticketfly at the Post Office today, hmmmm wonder what that could be?!? It's going to be a good year!
