Just plopped a sugarcube in a shotglass and poured some absinthe on it. Must be the weekend....

You people are sure handy to blame for influences.

Cheers!

Morning Lucky.

Today is overcast and trying hard to reach 20c (68f). With very low winds for a change, we're actually calling it kind of decently warm.

The only thing - and I mean the ONLY thing - that's kept me from complaining about the wet, damp and very chilly, windy weather here over the last several weeks has been hearing about what you all are dealing with.

It may be a very hard step onto the playa this year for those of us from the East.....

Indeed, all, today IS a good day.

Talked to the folks this a.m., Mom and Dad are fine.

The cat hid a roll of stamps underneath the recliner that I found. Forever stamps, full roll, $49.00 saved. Cat thug life, indeed! All she had to do was ask for a stamp, I would have given her one.

Spent $675.00 yesterday on the truck. Oil and filter change, my ass.I got the radiator flushed, the differential and transmission fluids topped out, etc. A FULL 240,000 mi check-up. She purrs like the cat. Truck is READY for BRC.

And FINALLY found some rechargeable D batteries. Off-brand, but fully guaranteed. That was my single playa power concern. I'm charging the second set (finished the first set of 4 this a.m.) right now. I'll finish the housecleaning before fireworks, and tomorrow I'll go shopping again at the farm and home store. They sell all manner of tools, feed, and I jokingly refer to it as the place to go to pick up chicks (baby chickens, that is).

All in all, a nice quiet weekend. Until tonight, that is. Then, the fireworks begin. Double entendre intended.

Evening Bar!

Sounds like everyone has had a lovely day...

My dogs hell night should start in about 2- 2 1/2 hours.

I wonder if she would like a beer? Maybe not, she could be an unruly drunk. So I'll just give her extra lovins instead. :coffee:

Lovely day, yes indeed! Got a few things done early, had lunch in Sedona with a dear friend, came home to a bit of OhSoWelcome rain, just watched a beautiful display of fireworks out the back door. Odd when there's such a delay between the light and the sound, being about 1-1/2 miles away from the fairgrounds where they were set off, but with a perfect view.

Feeling a tad nostalgic for the 4th of Julys when my sweet Ron and I would bring out our chairs, a little table with our drinks and an ashtray and watch the fireworks from here. Hard to believe he's been gone over 6 years. Seems like last week.

I could hear the rumble and boom from my basement, the only air conditioned room in the house. Good enough.

Our cats were pros. We live near the ballpark, so they normally hear over a hundred fireworks displays a year from closer than most people are to their holiday spectaculars. They didn't even wake up for the main displays, and only cracked their eyes open and stared disapprovingly when the renegade fireworks were let loose on the next block a little later.

It's a lazy day, but I suspect that once we wake up a bit more we'll head on over to the fabric joint to start sourcing material for a coat...

Lots of fireworks here last night, which was surprising, given we're in Only Just By A String Canada, But Even Further Removed From The U.S. Than The Rest. (egads, that's a long name)

More surprising still, given fireworks have been banned for a 20km radius of the lake... upon which all the the works were fired....

Still, cat's only facial-ticking a bit today, so I guess he did ok. I wouldn't know, I was in a closed room trying to get to sleep.

On a fabric note, I had a wonderful surprise last week when I went to the one and only remaining fabric store in our region. Finally found something "ok". When I went to get it cut, I was informed it was $35 a metre. I needed 2, at least. DANG. I was informed of a sale of buy 2 get one free if I was a member, but becoming one cost more than the additional metre.

In the end I guess she took pity on me, because I walked out of there with 3.9 meters at the price of 1 and a half. She gave me a "Buy one, get two free, and the .9 rest-of-the-roll at 50% off" deal. Yay. SOLD!

Now if I can just get off my butt and continue these projects, Ken and I might be draped in some soft this summer!

Yea Delle. Love a fabric bargain. The neighbor dogs were so cute last night. Two tiny little things howling like a pack of mini-wolves. They sang me to sleep.

For a few years when I was living in Detroit, they did a sort of 'wonder twins' thing with Windsor, the little town in Ontario that was on the other side of the river. They ran it from the weekend to weekend to cover the 1st (Canada Day) and 4th (Independence Day) and just called it the Freedom Festival. They had fireworks and events on most nights downtown at the waterfront. I remember bits of it having a great street festival/food festival atmosphere.

Okay Dear Bar

Today is the day when Womens World Soccer finals play
We beat Germany in the semis even though they may have a stronger offense.
(after the tough loss the year the Japanese took it and we tried not to mind because they needed success then)
this time we go for all

nothing else today
