How can we battle scalpers!?
BRC is not just some rave or party, it is a way of life, thought, love, passion, evolution. Every Craiglist ad seems to be a scam. I tested six different posts today...all scams. Many were posted in more than ten cities each. Worst yet, people can bid on tickets on StubHub. That's just not right. There must be some control by sites like Ebay,Craigslist and StubHub, encouraging people to pay thousands of dollars to attend. Be sure to flag those that are abusing the system! I am going to contact StubHub right now in fact. Much love to you dust bunnies! )'(Water Bear)'(

How do you battle scalpers? You only pay face value for the ticket +fees ($12ish dollars, unless their shipping was more). That's it. If there's no profit to be made, there's no scalpers. Sadly, there are too many people willing to pay "whatever it takes" and there will always be people to feed on that desperation.
Note: most of the "tickets" you see on StubHub don't exist - they don't have to. Look at the dates they promise to ship them by - they're almost all right when Gate opens. Basically these people are trying to reel in a sucker, then they go looking for a cheaper ticket to resale. That's allowed by the rules of StubHub, apparently. If the seller can't get a cheaper ticket, they just cancel the transaction. On Craigslist it's a combination of scalpers & scammers, and there's no way to know which is which. If you think you're dealing with a scalper, report them to [email protected] - if they can get the number from the ticket, they will cancel it. If you're dealing with a scammer, it needs to be reported to your local police.
I'm locking this thread down, as the question has been answered and this is not the place for pitchforks and angry villagers. Water-bearer (or anyone else), you're free to PM me if you have other questions about this.
