Thanks, goathead. Here, would you like a cup of coffee from the pot I just made? Cream or sugar, or Splenda is on the bar.

I'll be cooking bacon soon, and you're always invited to take part.

no thanks, just cold and black, in a cup that has never been washed for me.

I think I need a couple of volunteers this year. would like to spend an afternoon out at the temple making stones.
BUT, due to the temps of the lens, people not watching where they are walking, reaching into the focal point, and endless questions cannot do this by myself.

basically need a couple of people who know what I am doing to watch by back, and keep people from hurting me and themselves.

or should I just drink beer?

Good Morning Dear Bar !

Yes ticket arrived !
and yet I am concerned because of our placement this year
6H for a non-bike rider keeps me a long walk away from "everywhere" shifts
guess I will "man" up

Yay Moon..it is a delight to think of you.

Morning bar peeps. Ratty, I arrive on Playa on Thursday and will really appreciate your help. It will be fun to hang out together. I do my first ARTery shift on Friday afternoon. As usual, camping in Hushville.

Was at an ARTery meeting last evening and learned that thee are about 320 pieces of art already registered for placement on Playa. About 1.3 million dollars awarded by Burning Man as honoraria to artists and more than a like amount for art support for the art that you will all be able to enjoy.

Really do have to get my ass in gear in prep and making some schwag. Maybe this weekend.

GH, look forward to seeing your stones.

Mornin' Bar!
Momma left to visit our kids in Tucson and Austin yesterday and I had to figure out the coffee pot myself! I miss her already.....
Marty, I'm w*rking an ARTery shift Friday afternoon too. Lots to do setting up my camp but I'll try to mosey over to H'ville on Thursday and at least offer some constructive criticism :)
Goathead, you can always "just drink beer".... I'd love to work perimeter for you, learn about your art *and* drink beer.

We can do both! 8)

Seriously, sign me up for any afternoon, I would love to support your stone-making. Pick a day & let me write it down so I can schedule ice shifts around you. 8)

Thanks guys, I will give it some serious thought.

Please note, this will also some extreme emotions, some very pleasant and some down right heart breaking.

few years ago was making some stones, a young girl stopped to watch.
asked what I was doing, I told her. she left and came back with some of her mothers ashes.
asked her how many stones, she said a couple for some of her siblings, she didn't want one for her dad though.
chuckle she was mad at him and not speaking to him right then.
I asked how long her parents had been together, many, many, years.
told her part of life and family is sometimes being mad at family, and to think about it while I made the other stones.
when I got done with then, she said she did want one for her dad.
I let her make the last one herself.

hmmm flash eyes similar to arc flash burns, and altered people reaching into the focal point or bumping me into it are my main safety concerns.
looking at the light is a very bad thing and will hurt like hell basically blind until it heals.
one of the reasons I haven't attempted this out at the temple,
plus they don't have home brew out there.
I know how to fix that part though.

Would something similar to welding goggles or safety sunglasses help?

I could arrange either.

What a beautiful story, Goathead. Just fucking right.

Ken and I would love to be out there with you. Hope we will be. There's all kinds of magic in the making there.

Rhino, yeah the disposable safety welders sunglass are what I use for people to watch. I have a couple pair right now, if you have a couple extra bring them on out.
I am going to bring the lens out to work and see how I do with an auto dark hood, I need readers to see what I am doing now, so hoping.

yg what is going to be a good day for you? MDF, Delle?

I am starting to think Wednesday, say 11 am to maybe 3 or 4, I know we are doing something every day by that is what playa time was invented for.

Of course this would depend on sun, clouds, wind, dust.
Goathead, you can always "just drink beer"....
chuckle, Just_Joe, you don't know how true this is. I need to make a point of drinking more whiskey and tequila.
yg should I drag Rhino over to the Black Hole or should we drag you out of the Black Hole over to the HomeBrew?

Great story, GH. I think I have an Art Tour shift that day, but will try to get out there when it's done.

Just learned that Hushville will be back at 5:15 and E where we were last year. Love that spot. The excitement grows!!! (((((ALL)))))

Thanks for working on the Cloud Car, Lucky! 8) Wish I could be there. I am hoping we can use Cloud as a windbreak for the Barbie Art, as we will be quite exposed at the corner of 7 & Erzatz. :?

Goathead, Wednesday would definitely work for me, though it's the Nude Bike Rode & Pub Crawl day and Barbie Death Camp is on the route; they can handle 500 naked people without me for once.

And I have bought all kinds of eye protection for my welding son over the years, I will see what I can round up to bring.

Lucky, email my office with a report. I want to put it in the August newsletter (if not before). Include those who helped so they can be so honored. Thank you for doing this. I've been spending hours every day hammering Barbie feet to planks (only 1400 or so of them) so I'm pretty swamped with TTITD shit to do.
