3:00 Neighborhood Camps

Alright, what camps (registered or otherwise) are planning on camping in the 2:30ish to 4ish range on the dial? Yes, we realize that placement is not announced until early July, and not all camps have filled out a placement questionnaire. Tell us about where you've requested, or where you're aiming to camp in the neighborhood if you're not a placed theme camp. This thread is for camps to announce their locations and intentions (not for recruiting, posting lineups and schedules, or other stuff you can tell us in your own camp thread)… tell us who you are, meet your neighbors!

ESD Camp The 'Burbs is tentatively going to be at 3:30 between D and E. It's a DIY camp with no frills, no fees, and no chores. It is primarily for those participants affiliated with ESD, and will have a sign up process on the ESD web site restricted to approved volunteers.

Black Rock City Welding & Repair is hoping to be placed in the 3:00 area after many years on the 9:00 side. I'm looking forward to a new neighborhood experience and helping many Burners with welding and tinkering fixes. Battlestar Erotica is hoping to get placed on the streets near 3:00, hopefully around F. We are a new bar with some delicious treats and drinks, as well as fun activities and games. We are starting small for our first year but definitely plan to ramp it up in the years to come. Come say hi!

Morning Cock N' Tales is a new coffee and morning cocktail bar formed after the dissolving of another camp from last year. Our members will be joining the gypsy nebula village once again and we are aiming for a large chunk of land on 3:30 and esplanade.

The Space Gnomes will be back in 2015 with there epic Tuesday night 'red and white' party... and will be throwing day parties all week long.

Will be in the 3:00 portal area

ESD sub-camp 3 "The 'Burbs" has been placed at about 3:15 between Ersatz and Freak Show. This no-frills, no services camp should not to be confused with the main ESD camp at 3 and Carney. Last year, The 'Burbs was at 3:30 between D and E.

Scratch that, it just occurred to me that ESD camps probably don't undergo the same placement procedure as theme camps.

Theme camp placement announcements typically happen in early July (and according to the placement team, that's the plan for this year), though as you've realized some groups (such as ESD) have fairly fixed placement, and some of the art installation support camps are reporting that they've gotten word on their camp location. As always, of course, the placement locations are approximate - they'll give you a location and the actual placement will be within half a block or so in either direction.

OKNOTOK will be back in 3:00 for our seventh year running, hopefully our second placed.

We had a great time last year next to Whiskey Junction, Serenity Now, and Skinny Kitty. It's quite different to be up in Theme Camp Land, surrounded by big teams making great stuff happen.

In March we upgraded last year's Human Tower to have 6x6 legs with a grant from the Los Angeles regional. The original 4x4 legs were more than strong enough, but they didn't look "right". 6x6 legs look very right (although they're not yet painted in this shot, the shame).

Can't wait to build all this crap again. I love, love taking it out the truck and assembling it all. The first evening when it's all done... ahhhhhhhhh, so good.

I'm also very excited about fabricating and assembling the first prototype of some new chairs this weekend:

We made 26 of the stools and tables for last year, driving out all folding camp chairs from "front of house", thus the request for some seats with backs. I hope the Soft Goods Dept. can come through with pillows as soft as these renderings look!

The Wanderers are planning on having our Toxic Tonic and hot dogs again this year. Every day from 4:00 to 6:00 pm (or as some of us say, the first thing in the morning), we'll be offering Gin & Tonic and hot dogs to weary playa wanderers. Come by, eat, drink, chill, maybe play some ping pong or badminton. Not sure where we'll be placed yet, but somewhere usually around 2:45-3:00 and F.

Hello Neighbors! VW Bus Camp has been placed at 2:30 and Freak Show

Q. Is Bus Camp only for air cooled buses?
A. Ultimately all buses are cooled by air, some more directly then others. Therefore we don't discriminate against VW bus owners who have moved up the evolutionary latter to water cooling.

Q. What do I have to do to join Bus Camp?
A. Well, we don't have any kind of requirements, other than the fact that you bring your VW Bus, (or yes, even your water-cooled vanagon). There are no Membership dues, and we don't take reservations, space is available on a first come first served basis, but we have never had to turn anyone away. If you want get more involved you should join our e-mail discussion list.

On the topic of placed camps etc - I have a question for Trilo or Simon.
Do you guys know why they don't release placement boundaries for placed camps (or if they sometimes do)? We were told we got 100x100 but that it was 'weird shaped'. We're very pleased to have gotten placement and are totally prepared to shuffle around whatever we need on arrival but I was just curious if any of you knew why they don't give placed camps the approx shape of their space, so they can be better prepared for it on arrival? I only ask because the statement that it's 'weird shaped' implies to me that they already know.

Anyhow, not bothered, just more curious than anything and I couldn't find the info here when I hunted around.
