I loaded my Extra Special collection of custom made costumes in the trailer. And, my Dr. Bonner's lavender shaving cream and peppermint tooth paste arrived today.

The only items I have remaining to check-off on my to-do list are: load the 20 pair of socks in the trailer and waiting on my friends from Minnesota to tell me what time I am supposed to pick them up at the Reno airport. :?

Other than those two items, I am all kitted-out, loaded-up and ready to dial in the radial on the Wichita Falls, TX VOR, set the throttle and put the machine on cruise control.

I finished painting my bike trailer and bought new cotter pins to hold it on. Now if I could just figure out the tarp on my shelter ...........(They don't make the size you want.)

Jung synchronicity. No. I'm not a believer but....Guess what I found in the parking lot behind Fedex today. A zorb. I guess they do run away from home. At first I was hoping it was an inflatable couch. When I picked it up I was sure it was a swimming pool full of water. Nope. Just a VERY heavy toy. Maybe I can change my camp to "Zorbing the Great' or 'Abzorbed in to the dust'. My boss will take it. He has kids.

Busy, busy, busy. Today I sewed new straps, (climbing ropes), onto my ratcheting devices for tying down my shade. Oh, and here's a picture of the 'zorb' I found in the parking lot yesterday. I know. It's a kids bebop but it's zorb-like.

Last week, the new 20a 36v lithium ion battery for my trike arrived.

After 1-1/2 years, 530 miles and over 60 charges, my original battery was just not putting out as much electricity and for as long as it did when it was new. Where I was once getting 36-40 miles per charge, I was down to 20 miles and my top speed on flat pavement was 12mph - down from 19mph.

I intend to use the new battery as my primary and my old battery as a spare. I built a nice little plywood box with a lock that is bolted under the rear of my back basket to hold the spare battery. The box is painted blue to match the color scheme of my trike and stands out visually a bit more that I might wish. But, as soon as it gets all stickered-up like the panels on my front and rear baskets, it will be hardly noticeable.

Since both batteries and controllers are in fabric tool pouches, it only takes a moment to exchange bags and connect the two wires from the wiring harness and I will not have to worry about making it back to the airport for a re-charge as often as I did last year.

Great Meathunter. You can run farther, jump higher and come visit more often. It should be almost a straight shot from the airport to my camp. BTW. Thank you for making up those airport stickers. They're swell.

Ratty,

The way that the volunteer slots for the Know-It-All information booth are NOT filling up, it appears that since I am the lead that I will be working the booth from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm every day.

Oh darn. I doubt that I will have much time during the day to do very much visiting around. So, in order for me to get my promised big sexy smooooch from you, you might have pay a visit the the airport. If it will make peddling all the way out to point 5 any easier, I can lubricate your smoocher with a healthy application of Malibu Rum.

Only 32 more days until I make a hard left turn onto I-20.

How uneducated can a "Know-It-All" be? You sent me an invite to join your happy crew, but I don't know my personal schedule for my regional's Midway project yet, so I haven't signed up for any volunteer time slots elsewhere yet.

AAAAaaaaaahhhh.... Glorious Playa dust!

...and the living room has been totally overtaken.

I could go on and on and on and on......

but I know you've heard it all before, so I won't bore you.

I'll just sit here smugly and drink this yummy wine with a big grin, all by myself, knowing today was a productive day.

Ticket and VP showed up unannounced... at my old address. Folks there are sending it my way via regular post. Ticket I ordered as a gift in a separate sale now has a shipping label printed, but who knows which address it'll be sent to. Rideshare buddy should be picking up his ticket at the post office tomorrow. Lots of my brainpower going to a few rectangles of paper, foil, and plastic.

Other preparations have been largely at a standstill; feeling mighty underprepared for the burn and overworked at work (these two things are probably related), but really not too stressed about it. It's probably fine; my plans aren't terribly complicated and I feel like I've done this enough times that I have a solid foundation to work from.

...perfect recipe for the playa to knock me on my ass, which actually sounds like a fun adventure!

BoyScountGirl I know what you mean. I"ve been trying to finiish decorating the shade structure and stopped to make a elastic net for my bike trailer. I'm woefully behind. Like you say. Did it before. I'll do it again.

OOooohhh... may we watch?

I know you have it down 'pat', as it were... and everything out there is an adventure!

We're moving into the phase between, "oh, plenty of time to do THAT" and OMFG, How the F*** am I gonna get THAT done in time??!!

Today was good for me, as far as progress is concerned. I had an overwhelming feeling of doom, which has been replaced with "Oh ya, I got this." Whew!

Aww, I'm sorry you're feeling over-worked, BSG... Hopefully you get a bit of recharging, and I'm sure you'll pull all the essential stuff together in time.

There seems to always be some aspect of the burn that knocks me on my ass in some way, and I kind of don't mind it. To paraphrase the Rolling Stones lyric, you don't always get the burn that you want....you get the burn that you need! Or something along those lines.

Progress wise things have been moving along. Tiny bits in the shopping department, I got a bit of the booze and a bunch of the beer sorted. A bunch of camp organizational pieces fell into place this week, too. Then I was able to get part designs finalized and boards set up for some of the parts I need to cut for camp. I haven't yet booked time on the machines, once I finish a couple more designs I'll work on that. I also finished the design for our camp shirts, so woohoo for that. Last year we initially weren't going to do a shirt, then something came together last minute and it was crazy trying to get everything coordinated on that.
