Parking in Gerlach

Post by MontanaMan » Mon Jul 20, 2015 12:15 pm

I'll be coming from the north on thursday pulling a trailer. I'm coming early to help set up SNAP Camp and have to travel to Reno to help load the camp supplies into the truck. I would like to leave my trailer in Gerlach for 4 or 5 hours on thursday while in Reno. Does anyone know where I can park it?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Parking in Gerlach, even if you are actively sitting in your vehicle is considered a big no-no.

Leaving a unhitched trailer ... very tough.

Unless you can prearrange with someone local in Gerlach to park your trailer on their private property, you should look at modifying your travel arrangements and either skipping your Reno trip or detouring altogether to Reno first.

Or you can get on playa, unhitch there, get a pass for $20 (last I knew) and leave the site and come back.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably try to leave trailer on the playa. Some complications since 2 other people will be with me. One not going to BM, just giving him a ride to visit relatives in Reno. I'll figure something out. Thanks!!!!

Drinking and dining at Bruno's is an OK activity in town for your non-EA pass friend.

Make sure not to show up at the BM gate with any un-ticketed passengers, for any reason!
Leave 'em at Brunos while you go in and take care of the trailer. And leave them a lot of beer money.

Are you coming from the North via Alturas or Winnemucca? If Alturas, inbound you could take the Susanville route, pick up things in Reno and onto playa with the trailer. Have done, it is a fine route and unbusy for early entry but busy on 80/447. Outbound via 447-Alturas is a dream and highly recommended. If Winnemucca, there is no easy solution and Jungo is a no-go.

Couldn't we do some sort of reality show about taking trailers on Jungo?
