Gift Ideas?

Post by oliv897 » Sun Jul 19, 2015 9:15 pm

What sort of gift ideas do you suggest for newbs?

I'm not sure yet but I may come dressed as an NCR Master Ranger so may have a whole bag of Sunset Sarsaparilla bottle caps to hand out(the currency of post-war Nevada) if I don't then I'll be coming in the war paint of my people (Bright Blue Celtic Tribals) and was thinking what about some small vials of water from Glastonbury which was said by pagans and druids to have mystical healing powers (it's actually full of nutrients and some of you may know Glastonbury as the fabled Isles of Avalon a famous druid lake said to be where the world was born in a lot of fantasy and fairy tales) ((and I think maybe RL but not sure my dad was a Druid.. I was his apprentice but he died before I had chance to graduate and rest of my family thought he was a weirdo))

A smile. To start. Then wait to see what happens in conversation before getting gifty. If they smile back and you have a conversation, any specific gift with a personal story, like those you mention will be remembered.

Well considering I won't be able to bring many I was thinking of saving gift giving to those that truly matter anyway!

I'm thinking your story telling is fabulous and would even host you for an afternoon of stories.

Trinket gifts can be cool but in general, they end up being "MOOP".
I'd suggest going to Burning Man your first time and seeing for yourself how things are, then consider stuff like that.
One of the best gifts a new burner can bring is wide-eyed wonder at the things people have built. Another fantastic new burner gift to the community is showing up totally self-reliant and prepared. You don't really need to hand out token stuff.

Ok good to note..

Also am not sure if she was serious or not as she was calling me a troll on my welcome thread, I think she has a problem with my life choices.. not sure though.. if shes serious then am up for story telling.. depending on what I come as if it's the NCR Veteran Ranger then I'm up for telling Fallout stories or the quests from the game told about from the ingame character and from his perspective, if I come as the Celtic Soldier then I can bring in a load of old local celtic wives tails with me!
