You actually say out loud "I miss lemur and isotopia. And that Simon is the sweetest guy ever."
When the only tool you got is a hammer, every problem looks like a hippie.

Hello RED! I have friends and family that have been going >10 years, and some are indeed jaded. Things change and sometimes it's hard to adjust. After listening to the stories for a long time, I stopped making excuses and went last year for my first time. Loved it, and will return this year. It most likely is because thats of where my mind set is NOW. The art, people and most of all the desert make me want it.
I did my research (eplaya is the best) worked on my gear (built a small yurt and fig jam cooler) networked with friends and had a great time. Volunteered at the center camp cafe and burn perimeters, and the cafe group are awesome!
My jaded friends are being replaced with other friends and thats OK. The jaders know the deal and there's always next year or regionals. They make excuses like 'I just want to go to melting pot the week before and buy a ticket' 'PNP camps ruined it' 'It's too big/expensive' But really they have just LOST THE DESIRE.
As far as calling the Black Rock Desert 'Home' that's not going to happen. BRC is a temporary encampment in a hostile environment. I joined Friends of Black Rock and want to go out there more often, but my home it's not.
Like Walt says in Breaking Bad - - "I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it. And I was really -- I was alive."

your BM shit is nearly complete in stored totes from last year and you only have to go they it to make sure nothing was missing, used up, gifted, or currently being used.
