Things you are dying to see at BM 2015!

Hi, everyone! The time is ticking, it is getting very close to the event. Our bags are almost packed, tents waiting to be set, tickets in hands, camps are placed on the map, camp events prepared and announced. Here it comes! The day we've been waiting for whole the year!
What are things you really want to experience at the event this year?
Ride an art car you like?
Listen to a favorite DJ at one of the camps?
Doing a nude run?
Taking a shower at The Human Carcass wash?
Watch one of the great arts?

P.S. Add a snow cone to that list, the one you will get in our camp to chill after you are done with all that hot activities !!! We will be at 6:00 and G!!

I'm doing an all-new volunteer thing with my department this year. I kind of want it to be catastrophic because I like playing clean-up.

I'm also volunteering a bit less, because last year I brought a ton of virgin friends who never saw me because I was busy or just sitting in camp because I was tired. This year, I want to make it up to my 2nd year friends and have some adventures.

I've gotten real jaded due to my ex-local community and the ever-so-fun drama, so this year I'm trying to return back to basics as to why I find this event so mesmerizing and wonderful. More fun, less bullshit. I want to ride my bike naked and find someone serving vegetarian food. I want to make dust angels in the middle of the playa. I want to engage someone with a goofy story. I want to get on stage and tell a story.

I also want to not shit my pants. That wasn't a good time last year. Listen to your body, folks.

Uh, I hope that answers your question. You asked what I wanted to see, and I said what I wanted to do.

Koren, I'm almost a little jealous - your bags are almost packed? I'm still in a mad scramble working on projects, and probably won't even start to get to the packing for a while yet.

As for things I'm dying to see, I try to keep expectations in check and play as much of it by ear as possible. People is big for me - old friends, new friends, people I haven't even met yet. But it always seems like the harder I try to find a specific person, the more difficult it is to actually connect with them out there. The same ends up being true of a lot of the art and vehicles. I've also been finding that some of my best memories out there end up being completely random and unexpected adventures, and I want to be as open to that as I can.

As you will soon learn, Burning Man is not an "itinerary" kind of event.
Most people don't even look at the What Where When guide, except as mild entertainment reading.
Usually, you don't end up doing the things you planned on, and you do end up where you had no idea you would.

The only thing I ever "die" to see is old friends I only get to hang out with on the playa. Everything else is gravy.

A little note on lowering your expectations for your first visit: think about all the horrible things that could go wrong. You hate it, it's too hot during the day, it's too cold at night, it's too loud, it's too dusty, your bike breaks, your rib breaks (it's happened to me twice out there), your shoes suck & you get blisters, etc etc. If any of those things happen you're mentally prepared, if none (or few) of them happen you'll be pleasantly surprised & possibly even have a great time.

Plans fail on the playa with great regularity (and occasionally spectacularly), good mental preparation for that will get you through anything.

Your post reminds me of my lazy-ass next door neighbor. When it comes to doing work around his house, I say that he does the work of "too people": Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, to windy, to calm, too damp, too dry, too sunny, too cloudy, to dusty, grass is too short, grass is too long, he is feeling too bad, he is feeling too good, his wife is too sick, his wife is too well.......

Yup. He does the work of "too people".

How lazy is he, you might ask? I will tell you how lazy he is. He is so lazy that the only way that he was able to have two children was because his wife crawled on top twice.

They're bringing out a cutaway of the first class lounge to be an air-conditioned bar in their theme camp as a bridge. That should actually be pretty cool!

I wouldn't mind experiencing a few condition alpha moments this year, to be honest. I've been through it before and not only survived it with all my structures intact, but it was an exhilerating experience. Not that I wish hardship on others (I hope all your stuff survives too), but I think the event could stand to have more crazypants-level dust storms to take demand for tickets next year down a few notches.

The tip that one of my campmates gave me in my first year worked out really well, and I try to have that mentality as much as possible. he said "imagine that for some reason we screwed up and got the dates wrong, and when we got out there it was just our camp and nobody else. We'd still have a pretty great week, right? Go in with that expectation, and anything else that you see is a bonus."
