Its time!

Post by gateway » Sun Aug 02, 2015 12:58 am

Ok, well its been time for some time but now its really time. It will be my first burn with a buddy who has been for a while and I have know many great friends who have been going for years.

Ill be coming mid week due to work stuff :( but never the less we will be driving from my cabin in Tahoe City to the Playa and looking for a great experience.

I might fly my drone (still waiting for the word from the BM camp since they are trying to figure out filming) but I plan to take various aerial photos and videos of locations. One of my last non professional shoots here in Tahoe is of webber falls and have a pretty cool instagram account.

Anyhow looking forward to the adventure and looking to meet up with various people esp anyone coming from the Tahoe or SF Bay area..

cheers...

Welcome to eplaya. You might get a mixed reception on the drone. They do take spectacular inpmagery, but there is the whole ask before pictures/video thing. Some on here feel strongly both ways.

Even coming mid week it is amazing. Happy burn!

I'd strongly suggest you check with the ORG about flying and/or filming. I'm pretty sure there are some specific rules about flying, registration and rules, especially over the city proper.

Yep I'm on the waiting list for their ruling this year.

Webber Falls is beautiful - that was a nice video. And the video of what's left of the Truckee River is a bit frightening.

I'd like to echo the thanks above - if the Org says no, please leave it at home for this year. If the Org says yes, please bring it and fly responsibly - I like the unique perspective drones provide, and you've clearly got skill with putting together a nicely-edited short film.

When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep.
That is a beautiful occupation.

Yea I plan to, trust me been doing this for quite a long time. If i can get approval I also plan to create 3d aerial maps of parts of the camps and maybe some art installations that can then be processed off line and I could upload the actual 3d maps that people can rotate and zoom in on.. see some examples of just landscapes at my sketchfab - Tahoe Beach
