How much beer to bring for a theme camp bar
Hello.
We are starting a theme camp in 4:45 and G this year. We are all first timers in organizing a camp.
We will have a bar open every afternoon to mid evening. We are planning to have beer mainly. We have no clue how the foot traffic will be between 3-10 PM and how much beer should we bring. 1000 is rounding our minds but we don't know if is a ridiculously big or small number.
Does anybody have any insights to share we us?

Bring ALL the beer!!!
G gets a lot of traffic and you'll be close enough to the 4:30 plaza that there will be even more!!!

How ever much you think you need. Bring more.
The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Last year we went through about 1 keg a day in a non-placed bar out in the burbs. It was a daytime bar and the beer started flowing just about the time it started getting hot and ended when the keg went dry in the evening.

I'm not good with math, but we go out to the most remote spot in BRC against the trash fence for one day and set up a bar for only one hour. We bring a few gallons of liquor drinks, and go thru a couple cases of beer plus. So that's like 50 beers in one hour in the middle of nowhere.
Yes, you have already been given the answer. Bring all the beers.

You will run out of beer. You can either a) reolve to go through x number of beers a day, and when you run out, the bar closes. Or you can serve as much as you can each day and the bar closes later in the week whenever you run out.

I've been with a placed camp on or near the 7:30 plaza for several years. Some years, directly on 7:30 (G, H, K), and some years closer to 7:45 (G, K). I can say for certain that being on a side street (not directly on the plaza) makes a HUGE difference in foot traffic. 4:30 to 4:45 doesn't sound like much, but it really is quite far off the main thoroughfare (over 100 yards?), so the majority of your traffic will be people who have come up or down 4:30, then turned onto G specifically to go that direction.
My fiancé was near 4:40 and G last year, and while there are generally people milling about, there are not usually enormous crowds like you find at the plazas, PLUS, people tend not to expect large camps further into the blocks, so while you will get passersby to drift into your camp, it is unlikely that you will have hundreds descending on you for beer.
I'd say go a little conservative on how much beer you bring. I mean, bring a lot, but if you are planning for plaza-level crowds, you are going to have a lot of beer to take home with you.

Yes, bring it ALLLLLLL.
I don't think we've ever gone home with beer from BRC. If you happen to have more than you can get rid of you can always bring it to a bar in a higher traffic area. They're going to be running low later in the week.

You people are pikers. Bring as much beer as you can. If you run out, hop on the bus and go into Gerlach and buy more. A lot more.

You need more beer. Period.

WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY cheaper by the keg, and it goes a long ways. We have been gifting boozeahol on playa for a decade now and have 190-200 n our camp plus guests nightly. Cans at first, and then we discovered kegs.

As has been said, when it comes to beer or bacon... or bacon beer.... it might be physically and logistically impossible to bring enough. So bring as much as you can and have a backup plan for resupply. Do you have friends with drones who can air drop more?

Bring what you can afford and have room for. If you run out, you win burning man! If you have left overs, take them to one of the Dpw bars and donate it. So again, you win burning man!

I'm giving this a nudge over to Food & Drink, since the preparation board is a better fit for general preparation-related discussions.
Others have given you some pretty great advice. Plan within your group's means, figure out what your daily limit is and once you've served that... close up shop. If you have leftovers you can roll it over, or at the worst case (as if too much beer in the desert could ever be a "worst case") you can gift it to neighbors or another bar. Good luck!
