Some of you may remember the Hot Italian Doctor from 2012. We have stayed in touch and were at her place today celebrating her birthday. She now has a beautiful 8 month old daughter, Serafina. She sends her love to all.ou

We leave on the Wednesday the 26th and arrive on Playa on the 27th. We will be setting up camp at 5:10 on E. Tomorrow I start making up daily menus so I will know what food we'll need. Mostly have everything else ready to go complete with an appropriate amount of playa dust from last year already on everything.

Every year, people DIE from stupidity, even very worthwhile and loveable people. That may or may not mean burners, but I sure hope not.

That's right, call your state or provincial one-call service to get utilities located where you're going to excavate. The number, good in all 50 states of the US, is 811. That goes for homeowners as well as professionals. I do it every time we do any drilling in Missouri.

This is not snark, this is a no-shit way to potentially save your life and potentially the lives of others.

Yggy is a professional. He knows what it means when somebody clips a line. It can be a big mess (waterline strike), a big smelly mess (sewerline strike), it can blow you, your crew, and maybe even the little old lady up the street to kingdom come (gas line strike). It could electrocute you (electric strike), or it could cost you a BIG wad of money if you cut a fiber-optic line (phone line). The phone company will charge you not just for the repair, but all the money they could have made if you're found liable.

Call before you dig, wait the prescribed time for utilites to be located, and then, DIG with care.

Just back from an interesting trip to the playa...sure is smoky out there in the world. CaffieneGirl and I stopped by Bruno's for a bite, then out to 12 mile for just a bit of dust. didn't want to go too far out on playa, damp around the edges, and the sky was looking like it could rain. We got the tent set up wandered a bit. the quiet out there is amazing, so f'n peacefull. when the wind was still we saw about 24 dB noise level.
I picked up a few crystals and interesting rocks.
Next morning was foggy/smoky visibility a few miles. a short trip up Jungo road was made shorter by a TPS light on the dash. 20 mph isn't slow enough, picked up another rock. 2 cans of fix a flat and back to Bruno's for a change tire or fix. Their tire guy said fix was ok, but not forever. The drive south to Nixon, Fernley was horrible smoky, could only see about half way across the canyons. When we got to Reno I bought a new tire.

Hot August Nights in Reno was a lot of nice cars and people. We saw Piney, Titwi, OneEyeDick n Leggs, Kernul and Nila, Oscillator, Abear. hugs all around
